Is there any way to get japanese music? I'm an oldfag that only remembers the irc channels were good for that stuff but I don't know the new channels (if there are any left).
I'm particularly looking for RIP SLYME's and Asian Kung-Fu Generation's newest albums.
Thanks!
What.cd and other private trackers
If you need it now, try scrounging up what you can get from bakabt, rutracker, nyaa, and various Google results

I had completely forgotten about rutracker! Those russians have everything (though I found RIP SLYME's latest on japanese blog, who would've thought), thanks!
what.cd always seemed like too much of a hassle to join.

There's also Jpopsuki.
I don't know if their applications are still open, but that's an easier private tracker to get into. If they're not open, you might have to wait a while since they were just opened a few weeks ago.
Also https://nipponsei.minglong.org/ has a lot of anime music, if you want that. You'll have to use IRC to get the files though.
You can find it on the mainstream anime trackers like Nyaa and BakaBT. Nyaa is very trendy when it comes to music and only new or very popular stuff will be seeded. BakaBT is better seeded but they tend to do huge collections and entire discographies. There's also AnimeBytes but it sounds like you've been out of the loop for a while and won't have an account there.
IRC channels are still a thing, I'm not sure but you might find some music on #news on rizon.net
