I recently learned that the power supply I bought for my old PC is a piece of crap. It was a 500w Kentek, the OEM one was 305w. I've only used it for a week, but have already decided to replace it with an OEM refurb.
When I bought the Kentek I also bought a new power cable. Has the Kentek potentially harmed it, or is it still good to use? I'm not electrically savvy, so I don't know what risks it had posed if any.

A PSU, no matter how bad, won't harm a cable short of melting it. Cables are deliberately made robust enough that they can handle things like overcurrent. Your machine would have been fried long before the cable.
