Im stuck housesitting at my parents for a week, found my old PC in a closet in my room
dusted it off, format, reinstall windows the whole 9
I also happened to have some spare parts from my main PC which I upgraded a couple of months ago, so I figured I could install them in my shitty old PC so I can at least play some 2010 gen vidya
only problem is: it has a 300W psu. I did some calculations on one of those websites, and I keep getting a total power usage of 295-301W with the parts I have
Will this shitty 300W PSU cut it? Im afraid that if it will just melt down if I use my keyboard too much
yeahh you'll probably be much safe

The problem with shitty PSUs is that their advertised rating isn't necessarily what they can supply. At all. A quality 300W PSU actually delivers 300W. Unbranded OEM is a complete crapshoot; don't be surprised if, say, it gives off 150W with 300W "peak" (for 3 seconds before it blows up). Sometimes you get a rebrand of quality, sometimes you get a fire hazard. Look up your brand/serial number on the internet to see if anyone has details (positive or negative). If you can't find it, don't trust it.
I bought a 500w psu for a Dell Dimension XP machine for only 25$ on ebay and it has performed very well so far. The brand was Kentek, and the seller had already sold over 100 of em

Don't be cruel, some people might think you're serious.
...on the other hand, those people deserve what they get if they don't do the research.

I am serious lol, it was a good buy

No it wasn't, unless they turned around and suddenly became a quality brand in two years (despite having exactly zero supplies certified at 80 Plus, but let's ignore that).

Don't skimp on a PSU, anon. A Corsair CX450M costs $50, and that can actually supply 450W, 24/7. A CX550M is $60 if you really need the extra watts. You can afford to spend an extra $25-35 on your high-end machine, trust me.
I'm sure 500W PSUs for only $25 sell like hotcakes (emphasis on "hot"), but that says nothing about their quality. They don't need to burn your house down immediately, you know.

it's not a high-end machine running Overwatch.. it's an old XP

its from an old basic HP plug-n-play PC
So I guess it WAS pretty much mid-tier when it was brand new
Ill just buy a new one instead of frying it
