I have used vlc for years but I keep hearing around here that MPC is way better.
Is it a meme or is it legit?
Could you recommend me a few filters and tips to make my MPC look good like it should be so I can see if it's worth?
Thanks

If you're using it mostly for anime, at least.
General advice to use MPC-HC is install CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/) or >>159283
Kawaii Codec Pack.
>>159280
MPC-hc +MadVR
thank you anons.
I don't know anything about the packs but after reading a bit it seems that the KCP is outdated or something.
isn''t it?
>>159380
No, CCCP is the outdated one
>>159332
If you're still living in 2012 maybe. MPC-HC comes with everything you need these days. If you want better quality just install MadVR and a subtitle renderer of your choice. Codec packs are obsolete.
>>159380
They are both irrelevant and unnecessary. MPC-HC + MadVR is all you need. People who tell you to install CCCP and KCP are the same kind of people who don't even realize MPC-HC has LAV filters in it by default. They just mindlessly tell people to install the same old thing they've used for years without staying up to date on the software.

KCP comes with madVR, tho.
>>159411
An old version of it, plus other shit you don't need.
>>159415
The omly uneeded shit is exteran LAV, although yeah, their version of madVR is pretty old
what about mpv?
>>159516
minimalistic UI, but supposedly customizable.
pretty much the same quality as MPC-HC+MadVR, although you don't get a GUI for settings like MPC does.
People will say that either one is more efficient, but that is also case by case.
If you're interested in SVP, the free version does not run on mpv. the pro version does though.
