Looks like she's a second cousin twice removed. Quite distantly related, many western countries might not even consider you kin except in the technical sense.

Because my great great grandfather was george and george's sister ada is my great grand aunt and ada is the grandmother of samantha. which makes her my second cousin once removed correct?

Here is where you're getting confused. A great great grandfather is 4 generations above you, while a "great grand aunt" (great great aunt would be more correct) is only 3 generations above you. See how that doesn't add up? They couldn't possibly be siblings being a full familial generation apart.

Ada and George would have to be on the same generational level as siblings, which from your position is 4 generations removed. But to Samantha, who is the grandchild of Ada, they are only 2 generations removed, which also puts her 2 generations removed from you. Hence she's your cousin twice removed.
