Hi guys, I was told to come here for help.
I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit and somethings wrong with the start up files so instead of taking it to a shop im looking for a manual fix.
Anybody know what I should do?
Hey can anyone help me?

>somethings wrong with the start up files
like?

Well it's that common problem where when I start up Windows I get past the glowing Windows logo but it stops blank at a black screen with a cursor and wont go any further.
The Desktop icons and the start bar will not load

looks like the illegal activator ain't working. find another one.

Do you have installation CDs?
>>141799
its a fully legal copy of Windows Vista
>>141803
No i don't
This laptop is a hand me down my friend must've had it

I'm guessing there's no way to burn any disks either. I wish I could help as a Vista owner myself, but I can't see what's going on from here. Best of luck.

Get an illegal copy then. It works better.

If he has another computer he could just download and burn the OS of his choice on to a disk/usb thumb drive then install it on the laptop. If he wants windows 7 then maybe he could upgrade without even losing the files or needing to backup.
This is EZ OP. You've got dis.

Check if there are any system restore points you can use first.

I wasn't sure if OP had the extra comp. I assumed not.

>there are people on this earth that don't own a desktop PC

OP seemed desperate for the laptop to work ie no alternatives. Trust me, did a double take, too.
