I watch skaters once in a while, and it seems the new fad is tricks where you plant your foot on the ground. I get that fashions change, but it just looks lame and janky to me. The interesting part of skateboarding was always the way the movement of the thing. Once you plant your feet on the ground, you might as wel be playing hackey sack.

skateboards usually turn very easy, pennyboards are medium and longboards are usually harder to turn with.
Also depends on what trucks you have and how loose they are. They usually get looser with time (or if you unscrew them a tiny bit)

The longer longboard you have, the more stable it's gonna be which helps enormously if you're gonna dance around on it

Trucks make the most difference IMO. They control how it turns, how high it is, and hold the wheels on. Everybody seems to focus on the deck but I'd prefer to have a good set of Independent trucks and a shop-brand deck to make it rideable for me.
