Tesseracts are cool but they're getting old to me. I've been going autismal with hyperbolic geometry recently.

This is a dodecahedron with all 90 degree angles. Possible in hyperbolic space.

I think it's more to do with the specific acoustics of that particular plate.

Any object is going to have a certain frequency response, and it's going to behave in a different way. I the plate were made of some other material, it would make a different pattern.
