It is actually quite impressive. Stuff like this is what will land on other planets without using shitty bouncy balloons like we've been using. There's less chance of failure once it is properly designed.
>>
>>855134
>there's less chance of failure
>airbags can fail, rockets can't
Never go full retard.

Besides, powered landing is the easiest way to land and the only way to lan on the Moon. Mars has an atmosphere very thin for parachutes but very thick for rockets which is a great challenge. That's why they've used airbags instead of rockets. Also Venera probes literally cut their parachutes at 50km altitude because terminal velocity near ground is something like 5m/s, equal to falling from ~1.25 meters. It all depends on the planet, the only thing you need for landing on Venus is heatshields. Moon has no atmosphere, there's nothing but rockets to slow you down. Mars has a very thin atmosphere, I mentioned above. Earth makes parachutes feasible for most applications, excluding those require precise landing (and marketing :^))

Those commands would exist on most Linux/UNIX systems. My guess is they're trying to download a rootkit or some other piece of malware. chattr +i prevents the file from being deleted or modified, and adding that line to rc.local would cause whatever they downloaded to be run with root privileges.

that's part of modern ssl stripping. by spoofing a dns server you can make browsers not scream and no regular user would notice it. hsts doesn't protect against it first visit, but if it's in hsts cache it'd scream and throw scary errors.

so impractical in reality as most users probably visited youtube before on a non-manipulated connection, but still a neat PoC desu
>>
>>858149
that looks like a kippo honeypot, it's got a few redesigned programs to print weird errors to confuse leethaxxors who "broke" in (root:admin). I got a few good ones on mine, but it's mostly chinese botnets that do that, or do nothing and then a few days later get a manual login with a real user who realises that "wget doesn't support any scheme".

Sometimes it's hilarious to see them try their best. apt-get installs packages and makes it appear the binary is installed afterwards, but it always generates a segfault upon running it. There's no editor installed and shell redirectors don't work. There's basically no way for them to run their code in the honeypot. All files that are attempted to be wgot are saved for analysis. It's mostly tarballs of perl IRC controlled DoS bots, by reading the source you can get into a few CnC IRC servers and chat with the owners if they don't ban you instantly.

It may sound like nonsense, but take an aerospace control theory class and it becomes significantly easier to understand

Missiles go too quickly for real time control, so the guidance systems are easier to to control using plotted progression and timing for a guessed control

Real time systems are getting a bit more advanced though so once latency gets below 1ms navigation can be done that way, but it will take many years for that to happen, and even longer to implement

Btw, electromechanical design engineer here, I didn't go into aerospace after graduating but I use very similar control theory and system design (along with dynamical signal processing) pretty necessary when dealing with supercritical fluids at high flow rates
