It's amazing when a group of writers and a director can create a simple scene. With suspense and music it becomes chilling.
One of my favorite scenes
>>873001
Holy fuck, I've never realized how comically short Riker's sleeves are in that scene. They really fucked up the unifroms on that movie.
>>985136
It's weird they spent so much effort making this battle actually look pretty cool but than cut corners reusing that shot from Undiscovered Country. WHY?
>>1003411
Funny enough it's actually the same uniform worn by Sisko in Deep Space Nine. I don't know why they cut so many corners in that film. They even made La Forge wear O'Brians uniform.

Really annoyed me that they never bothered firing back at the warbird. Okay granted they have some kind of advantage completely bypassing your shields, but nowhere says you can't run away AND shoot at them. Hell, you have phaser arrays and torpedo tubes on the back of your ship for that specific purpose.
star trek will never get old or die

>>1009224
My reaction as well.
Picard > Sisko > Kirk = Archer > Janeway
123
>>1249590
That feels wrong though. Picard - Kirk - Sisko feel more like a Rock - Paper - Scissors sort of deal where one is good at one thing and weak in the other.
Case in point with Generations, where Picard has to pick up Kirk since Jean-Luc only ever got passing grades in the "Fisticuffs in a Desert that looks a LOT like that one place in Nevada" madatory starfleet course whilst Kirk kind of invented that shit as well as several of it's most lauded techniques such as The Double Fist, the Shatner Chop and my personal favourite, the flying sideways body lunge.
Sisko meanwhile can't diplomatize all that well, isn't much of a scientist, is okay in a fight but nothing stellar.
But what he does bring to the table is a bloody mindness to pursue something to it's end, no matter the cost that puts everyone else to shame.
Archer gets a bad rep because he was saddled with bad writers. 99% of the problems with enterprise was down to the writing, the casting was fine and Bakula REALLY tried hard to do a good job, and I think if he'd had decent scripts to work off he'd have really shone.
As it is I quite like him.
Janeway though. Yeah. It's no coincidence she's the ONLY Captain of a modern trek to get made an admiral. IE The rank where all the complete psychopaths get sent because they're WAY too dangerous to have in a captains chair.
The only reason Kirk got elevated is because nobody ever bought his tales of sun sized Amoeba's, Salt Vampires, Sentient Gas clouds making him fight Ghengis Khan with Abraham Lincoln, that time he had to kiss a black chick because a Greek God made him, or that one time he found Khan Noonien Singh.
They just thought he was a compulsive liar who was so good with his crew that they all backed him up.
It was only when the Whale Probe appeared and he literally travelled through time to save the whales right in front of them that they "demoted" him right back into an Enterprise.

>>822669
god dammit worf
>>1274693
Well, that was during the weird interim period where they had the new look, but Klingons still acted a lot like their old TOS way. So things were a little loose during the films with regards to how Klingons worked.
Once we get to TNG though their all lunatic warriors who contribute nothing and are joke compared to how they used to be.

One thing that was cool though: Wil Wheaton was a voice actor for There Came An Echo, which allowed you to use voice commands to control the characters (it was sort of like a tactical RTS). If you said "Shut Up Wesley", the game would treat it as if you told his character to cancel the last order, but it would also play an easter egg voice line where Wil says something like "I have feelings, you know".
how are people feeling about the new series?
