You think getting a bird bath is a bad idea when I own cats?
>>
>>1827083
Saves on cat food. You could try and math it out but It'll probably come down to how old your cat is and how much time he has left.

Good tune.
>>
Guys, I need some comfort:
>There's a common blackbird (white one) for over three years swerving in my garden.
>Found him yesterday on his back struggling.
>I went over him and pushed him on his feet, but he got back on his back.
>Carried him to a dry place outside, but couldn't get back on his feet.
>He lied there on his belly, no sound.
>Suddenly his ass lifts up, just like his head.
>An hour earlier, he was puffy with his feathers and on his feet, never saw him like that.
>Decided to snap his neck and bury him.

Did I do good or was it a mistake?
There is also a 'Usutu virus' going on regarding to them in my country.
>>
>>1828045
you decided to end a life that wasn't yours without being 100% sure that you were ending some kind of suffering, I mean the bird could have died some how peacefully or maybe even survive if he was lucky, you grabbed him and snapped its fucking neck because muh human logic

so I don't know what to tell you anon, you probably did it because you thought "it was the right thing to do" and all that, but sometimes it just isn't, and you just have to let nature take its course without intervening
>>
>>1828045
It was mercy, and while hard, you did the right thing.

I did the same to a mourning dove after it barely survived a scrap with a red tail hawk, and it was not easy. That being said, it's not right for anyone or anything to die slowly and painfully. Death best be quick after a life best lived.

As for the viral idea, it's entirely possible, though I'm not as well read into it as I should be. Just make sure you're okay man.
>>
>>1828153
Human logic, nature logic, two of the same warped mentality.

Hell, birds are social. We all know they have the capacity of empathy. Maybe they have some sense of mercy and mortality as well.
>>
>>1828171
na pham you're wrong, I know this is how you cope but you can't say human logic = nature logic, hell you can't even attribute logic to nature, it just doesn't work like that

also, did you even try to take care of those birds? search for other ways of dealing with those situations instead of "welp that's nature for you ladies and gentlemen" and snap the shit out of them? I'd perfectly understand if it was some cat/dog/whatever agonizing in the middle of the road after being degutted by a car, but a sick birb? dunno man, I've actually taken care of few birds on my life and while most of them did die, some of them actually made it

actually TRYING is the right thing to do in most situations
>>
>>1828197
Well, I suppose it was just the circumstance I was faced with. Male mourning dove, left wing broken, right wing torn off almost entirely. Just a tendon holding it to his body. Hearing his cries alone was painful, but I wasn't going to let that red tail circle around for another dive. Maybe it was just my own warped idea of nature and our own empathy towards it. So be it.

I have cared for birds before though. The robins nesting outside my deck, the finches in the maple, helping the crow that was dumb enough to fly into my window and sat on my porch for 4 months before he decided to leave.

Listen, I try. My dad is an Ornithologist, and I do my best to keep up. Hell, I turn to him for help almost daily. Maybe I just haven't been in enough circumstances to really say what was the right thing to do. I only have the few moments I have to try and help another person cope with the decisions they make.
>>
>>1828221
hey man I wasn't trying to make you or other anon feel bad, just a little moment of consideration/weighing and "what ifs", I know you did that because you genuinely believed it was the right thing to do, and in that case it probably was according to your description of that dove so man, you did good, I'm sorry

sometimes we need the truth and not a pat on our backs tho
>>
>>1828234
Nah, you're right. It is that harsh reality once in a while to put things in perspective.

Thanks man. The mourning dove haunted me for months, but for once I actually feel a bit better about it. I owe you.
