I'm planning on making a gondola game with a few friends, I envisioned it as a walking simulator basically, you roam around the world and find other gondolas in remote or not so remote places, they look at you briefly and then continue on with what they were doing and sometimes when you come back they're not there. The world would be made up of a variety of places accompanied by original music adequate for the atmosphere of said places.

Well some mild puzzle elements would make it a bit more intersting. Not as in "hey, you, have a puzzle!", but just to get to a remote spot you may need to repair some machinery, find a way to open up a rusty gate, etc.

The problems with discord is that it takes away from the anonymous nature of the discussion. Certain people who put out more quality content will be seen as leaders, and newer people and attempts will eventually be shut down.

Happens in every discord group. Always a start of like minded people, then a core clic forms, and then they start calling the shots or kicking people. For some things, thats appropriate, but not gondola.

I can understand where you're coming from, though, and it was nice for you to set it up. Who knows, maybe in a few years when we're all gone and scattered it'll be a refuge to come back to. But for now anon gondola threads are still alive and kicking. Let's keep it here.

I don't think a gondola game would make sense. The principle behind gondola is that he doesn't interract, je just observes, an animated short would be more appropriate. A gondola game would just be an exploration game with a large world and lots of places to go to, but no real gameplay. There could be puzzles and whatnot but they should,stay simple, a player shouldn't have to concentrace/focus to play it.

I imagine treating the game like a series of mazes and "walking puzzles" to discover secret areas would be a nice puzzle.

I think it would have to be something as focused on atmosphere as Kentucky Route Zero, with puzzles kinda like Machinarium's first few levels (simple, moving around small objects to get from place to place, nothing really carrying over from screen to screen). I think 2D would work best, but it really shouldn't be pixelated.
Maybe each level the gondola is drawn in a different style idk.

Gondola is in this bathroom, the only exits are a locked door and a window near the ceiling that can't be reached by jumping.
The way Gondola gets out is by sitting on the shower drain until the room fills with water. Then, he swims to the top window and escapes.

This covers two elements that I think should really be in the game: Minimal interaction puzzles, and references to more established Gondola memes.

Maybe the stages can be different islands and while exploring the first island you find like a pair of wings you can fly to other islands with. Then have like a rainy island and maybe even a metropolis island and all that jazz. Each islands can have their own style and musical theme. It's a compilation of gondolas made by a lot of different anons, and the song is beautiful too. That webm shows the connection between people who may never meet each other but are all huddled together by this one thing they enjoy, and the fact that it's such a niche community makes it even more special.
