Its especially so for scuba divers
My uncle was coming up from a 120ft dive and had no idea there was one directly above him. Fucker got wrapped up in its long ass tentacles at about 70ft underwater while on low air. He dropped weights and shot up like a cork. Luckily the dive boat he was on had a tiny 1 man hyperberic chamber on board so he survived. He still has scars on his back from it, despite wearing a wetsuit
how did you develop this fetish? stung in the crotch were ya, ol greasy hag?

>hyperberic chamber
Ok for a complete retard, can you explain what that is and why he needed one

A higher ambient pressure will force nitrogen into the tissues and joints of the body at a higher than normal concentration. When the pressure drops rapidly, the nitrogen suspended in the skin, joints, muscles, and (worst case) brain/central nervous system will form bubbles, as the partial pressure in insufficient to keep the gas in suspension. This is extremely painful, and the deeper you dive the higher the pressure, meaning the more nitrogen can be suspended in the body instead of exhaled/processed normally as waste.
Divers that swim deeper will have to perform a controlled ascent, meaning you ascend a certain depth, then level off and let the body naturally process the nitrogen, then continue after the pause. If you come up rapidly the body cannot remove the nitrogen quick enough and it forms bubbles in places it really shouldn't. It is extremely painful and can be very dangerous.
A hyperbaric chamber produces atmospheric pressures high enough to force the nitrogen back into suspension, relieving the pain and stress on the body. The pressure is lowered very slowly to allow the body to naturally process the nitrogen, hence why they are also called "decompression chambers"

tl;dr: When you rise too fast from too deep in the water, nitrogen molecules expand in your blood (imagine blowing up a big balloon but in your arteries and veins). If you do it REALLY fast like in the story theres a very high chance you can die. For more information, google "the bends"

That's a Caravela. It's not even one single animal, but a colony of cnidarians. They are abundant where I live. Yes they have urticarial "tentacles" that can burn rather painfully but they are as far from deadly as a starfish.
