>>
>>1749792
If you're fond of Cinema de Arte like me you might struggle with all the Hollywoodishness stuck into it. It's not on par with 2001 for that matter. But despite everything else, there are three moments that completely saved the movie for me. The whole water planet sequence, and most of all the docking scene that is being memed here. Actually the docking scene is so spectacular that immediately after it I thought "no matter where this movie goes next, it's been worthy just because of this scene". Truly beautiful.
I probably ruined the experience for you for leveling up your expectations but you should give it a go regardless.
>>
>>1749880
I saw the docking scene on youtube. It was pretty cringeworthy.
>>
>>1749882
> Seeing a scene isolated from the rest of the movie
Would you listen to a single verse from a song and judge it as well? You ruined the experience by watching the climax beforehand.
Regardless you sound like you want to hate it no matter what, so go ahead Hate it and be happy

>>1747769
This parody is great on so many levels, plus the amount of work it took. I have been wanting a reaction from someone who actually went to school for video/film/directing or the like on this parody alone because it seems so well done.

I have not seen the movie yet, the docking scene seems pretty amazing, there's obviously a underlying storyline that adds depth to it that I am totally oblivious to hopefully when I watch the movie that will change.

By all means, go ahead and see the movie if you haven't, it's definitely worth watching. But check your expectations.
>>
my main problem with the plot is that earth condition is not that bad for humans who can make interstellar flight..
They can make underground greenhouse and stuff like that, it's cheaper
>>
>>1755685
it's not the condition of the planet that was the problem, it was the "blight", a disease that was killing everything
>>
>>1755689
If the blight is truly unstoppable, then how did they get healthy crops into spess?
It all comes back to the mass death of plant life affecting Earth's condition, which could be escaped by underground greenhouse
>>
>>1756064
There are defintely plot holes. The astro science was far from perfect too. Goofy orbital mechanics and such.
That being said, I had no issue suspending disbelief and absolutely loved the film.
It made me cry like a baby a couple times.

I'm from /g/.
Jk, I used an app called NewPipe that you can download from F-droid for Android. Anyway, NewPipe is YouTube without ads and background play but it's still in beta. In the app there is an option for download.

You can do it on the PC, too, if you want more control on size and splitting. But on the phone I can't do that so I am limited to short videos that hopefully won't go over this board's file size limit.

This is an example: I tried uploading this (https://youtu.be/qfHzzy6T9to) 5.3 MB and it says file is too large.

>>
>>1750069
honestly from a technical point of view its not that impressive. the guy got some funny innuendos to serious cinema like the trunk shot at 0:17 and the several povs like 0:32 but the most comical value comes out of the 0:41 type shot where he taped his camera to the ceiling fan.

such spinning shots are usually hard to obtain because the camera needs to move very fluently, also you need the moving light in the frame as well as some background compression so it seems to move very quickly and gives the shot a very dramatic hugeness. the solution with the fan is pretty funny and clever as it successfully recreates that entire setup, the background compression comes from his decently long lens which is not common for home video users and thus looks very professional. the rest is carried by the music

whatever other issues the movie has, the one thing I really appreciated about Rogue One was the way the Death Star strikes really evoked some of this nuclear imagery, especially the last clip.
>>
>>1787269
OP here. the part of the movie where both of the songs used in the meme were used were very tense and great parts of the film.

mountains was a dramatic scene due to the danger and epic visuals

no time for caution was the docking scene where they had to do some insane shit to get the shit to dock. by spinning their ship to the speed that the now exploded station had been put into. so the meme is all about spinning and sometimes the camera will lose focus of the subject, kind of how the movie was shot also.

The whole idea in Interstellar is how close it is to realistic physics. Its simulation of theoretical interacting with black holes and wormholes was so accurate that actual scientists started applying the visualizations in real astronomy. Apart from the ending, which is, uh, one theory made into a plot device.

That is as much as I can say about it without spoiling the rest. But I doubt that mattered anyway

Some people critically are split with Chris Nolan because he tends to fail in certain moments of human emotion. Instead of letting certain moments breathe he makes situational emotion which is taken mostly from american action films (think Die Hard) and can be an element in horror.

In Batman this was ok because we already expect a character, but generally the connection was missed. And even more so in Inception. We can enjoy the plot itself but not always relating to the characters (or not caring about them at all, its a fun but confusing movie). Compare how you feel about Leo's personality (or lack thereof) in Inception vs any treatment he gets from Scorsese.

His core fan base prefer the situational emotion which is to put it simply a trend that is now almost over. Chris Nolan hints that "something is up" with these character's pasts and that apparently affects their decision making, but keeps a distance that hurts our experience in the end. A character can develop on screen (good movie experience when we notice and feel a change in this other person) and this is different from an inconsistent or undeveloped character.

I never saw Interstellar but it apparently had more problems than the theater sound. Dunkirk keeps this same distance but people are applauding because 1. in a war movie it's motivated and it's probably the movie Nolan was born to make and 2. he improved dramatically on cutting across timelines, and by now we need less ques to understand it
>>
>>1807303
tldr, Nolan makes great scenes and people will see a whole movie or praise a whole film because of a fun scene. But he has in the past made some terrible overall films and worse characters.

That's neither a stroke nor seizure. The pilot was pulling a very hard turn, causing the g-force to drain his head of blood enough that he momentarily blacked out. It looks like a stroke because there was a downward force (relatively speaking) large enough to do so.

Actually the first time someone marched on the Mexica Empire (Aztec Empire)'s capital they did conquer it, and they changed the name from Tenochtitlan to Mexico City.

it wasn't translating very long relative to the planet surface, but it was transmitting for a long time outside of the planet. relative to the source, everything is happening in real time. The further away from the source the longer things take.

>>1818013
Yes, but the characters should have known this. It was not a safe bet to choose the planet where the signal was only being sent for a few hours yet.
