Great musician, and such interesting instruments. Archaeologists haven't found all that much record of instruments or musical performances in the Norse lands, though, meaning that the Scandinavians of the Viking Age (750-1000 AD) probably didn't care much for music. The song Einar performs in the second webM, Völuspá (Voe-loos-spau), is actually a historical scandinavian poem rather than a song.

Sounds pretty exotic, it might be a dominant phygian scale (aka. spanish gypsy) which is the same as 5th mode of harmonic minor scale, or maybe byzantine scale (aka. double harmonic / algerian scale) which is the same as major scale but 2nd and 6th notes are lowered. But yeah, it's not a progression, it just has a base note.

Cool fact about this song. When it was written it was only supposed to be performed in the Sistine Chapel. Only 3 copies were ever created, and they were given to the holy roman emperor, the king of portugal, and a renowned monk. They were very specific about when and who could perform this piece. Mozart heard it when he was 14 and wrote it down from memory later in the day. Instead of punishing Mozart the pope praised god for his miraculous gift. Mozart is the only reason we still have this song to this day.
>>1750996

Duuuuude! These are rad, i wanna do stuff like this.
Did you compose that song yourself?
There's a quality to it, a totally unique quality that just resonates with me. Maybe something about how it's electronic, but made with physical parts? It just feels like a bridge between electronic music and acoustic music.
>>1754319
The long and short of it: no, however you can definitely compose your own songs to use with this. It runs off of MIDI and electronics black magic does the rest. The song in that webm is the real folk blues from cowboy bebop. I watermarked it specifically so if someone ever clipped it and put it up anywhere people interested would still be able to find the source. I have many more on my YouTube channel in a playlist.
I track down MIDI files and severely rework them to work with this, the end result is something that sounds harsh on the ears and generally nothing like the song, at least until I pass it through aforementioned black magic electronics to be played back through mechnical electric motors and voice coils. It would be quite a hurdle to write your own songs for this just because they're limited to a very small range of octaves, and you truly don't know how it sounds until you record it and hear it. Working with readily available MIDIs is still a lot of effort in making them sound good, I can't imagine what it would take writing an entirely custom piece for this. I have many songs unfinished just because I couldn't get them to sound good being played back by this orchestra.

This isn't really all that complicated to do. I figured out how to do it with floppy drives a year ago by reading some stuff on instructables. Scanners and hard drives are different in terms of what else you need to make them work, but the core hardware and software you'll be using to do it will work with them. For hard drives you need an adequate amplifier to make the audio signals generated by the software audible, and for the scanner you need a motor driver to interface with the motor. It all runs off of Arduino so it's very customizable.

It's so he can drop instruments in and out when he wants to and can stop the fly wheel on a whim. The thing is, if you look carefully in the video you can see the main cylinder that dictates what is played is run by pegs that he can change, so technically he could make lots of different songs on the same equipment. It had to be a guitar cover because the video features a guitar, and running in the 90s is one of the few eurobeat melodies that everyone instantly recognizes no matter what it's played on.
Try putting any one of the other thousands of eurobeat songs in metal form (except maybe a few others that faggots like you also always complain about) and no one will know what it's supposed to be.

That's not a music instrument. The creator made special sounds that would show visuals on an oscilloscope. This oscilloscope is simply visualizing the sounds, not playing them.
