I'm sure his viewers do, considering I was a fan of his a decade ago. But he can't have it both ways. Either he is putting on a fake show for viewer consumption (a fraud), or he really is a raving maniac. In one case he gets to keep his kids but lose viewer trust, and in the other case he loses his kids but keeps viewer trust.

I had a similar encounter back at work.
I work as a part time barman, and i found this crazy old lady very similar to the simpson's one asking for free water (Which i gave from tap) in a very rapid and uncomfortable voice. His ex-wife was trying to take custody of his kids away, using Alex's extremist views and belief in conspiracy theories as evidence that he was unfit to be a father. Jones' lawyer argued that his entire on-air persona was just an act, he was performing a character, and that he's totally fit to be a father because he doesn't actually believe the things he says on his show.

This got Jones a ton of backlash from his subscribers who take him seriously, so he tried to spin it as "Oh I was just talking about the times on the show I dressed up as these characters, not the whole thing", while keeping up his "it's all an act" defense in court.
