wallpaper engine. its like 4 bucks on steam and you get workshop support for custom wallpapers, but mine is really fucky about actually using workshop content. but you can just add webms to use as wallpapers, but either im retarded or theres nowhere to really find wallpaper webms

these are pretty cool, thanks. ive been trying to figure out how to just download the workshop files manually but they dont download without the program being connected, and the other methods of downloading files manually are blocked for the app

Whenever I try to download some I just select all the ones I want then restart the program, if that doesn't work then I close the program and restart steam. Never had issues beyond that though.

I can link you my stuff if you want, not a whole lot of content but maybe you'll find something you'll like.

Just made these. They are off-center because they are for an arcade machine front-end that I am programming (the game selector is on the left side). If anyone wants them modified slightly to make sense on a desktop, let me know.

the pacman works as is, but if you 'are' gonna recentre them for pc wallpaper, you should sign them in some way, even with just a couple of pixels; just to tag them as your own

Only advice I could offer is to copy and reverse the clip. This *should* reduce the stutter you see that wallpaper engine creates but it will increase the file size.

It's roughly the same as playing the video in VLC normally. To test the performance hit, play the WEBM in VLC and watch the task manager. If you are okay with that, then you are all set.

Kind of wanted to avoid that. I prefer the fading 2 layers method so it seems to always move in one direction without really moving at all. I was dumb though and made the video twice as long as it needs to be. I'll attempt cutting it in half when im off work to see if it'll line up better on the loop. Likely won't, but worth a shot

These sounds like a terrible idea. It's like having your computer playing a movie the whole time it's on. No way a moving background is worth the resource sap (not to mention potential hardware resource conflicts). Unless all do is browse 4chan and check your email.

Negligible impact for me. I set my wallpaper to pause when not in focus. Games play fine, Plex runs normally, no slowdown anywhere. Only spike in resources I see is in the HDD usage but it only happens when loading the next wallpaper.
