Though RE7 is certainly better than that it really annoys me that people enjoy bullet sponge enemies or cinematic scares where you're not allowed to do anything.

Thankfully RE7 isn't as bad as Outlast or Amnesia where it turns into a shitty stealth game and stays that way. But I definitely don't want the mainline games to be like that.

One of the first areas of Outlast where you run into the common enemies there's a million bricks, 2x4s, shovels, hammers, etc laying around and the game FORCES you to just hide in a corner or a locker while they walk past.

The only thing that annoys more more than damage sponge enemies are enemies you can't even attempt to fight back against ever and the game just makes you play in a super prescribed way.

Outlast, SOMA, Amensia, Slender, etc would all be improved if they were just walking sims.

PT and Layers of Fear both do it much better where they don't even pretend to have combat, there's a feeling of a threat but it's not "oh spooky monster better hide behind a box until I hear it walk away"

SOMA is the most disappointing, for me, because I absolutely love everything about the game until there's an enemy encounter. Which never feels scary to me, it just felt tedious and annoying and the punishment for "dying" is having to do the same tedious stealth section again so I can get back to the exploration.

The division was mainly good but reloads were still robotic, and the audio fo rhte reloads was horrendous (no separate audio for fully empty reload, audio was shared across weapons of the same type even if the reloads are different etc.). Other than that it was great.

What I hate is that its a massive company, which appears to be trying to cut costs to svae as much money as possible.

Way smaller studios spend more time on the animations, and the finished products are so much nicer because everything fits together.

The animations in ghost recon wildlands should look like actual people moving around, not robots. And the reloads should be realistic, but also tactical.

Look at far cry 3 blood dragon, a previous ubisoft title. They did an amazing job with the animations back then. It's amazing when every aspect of a game just works together, and because ubisoft is too lazy and wants to save money, or pushes their internal studios too hard, they ruin it for us.
