I mean Jesus Christ it's a hard situation and it's a coin toss isn't it? I mean the guy is holding a black object in his hands while approaching the cop. It's dark, it's raining visibility is poor, no wonder the cop mistook it for a gun. The cop was wrong, it wasn't a gun. Does that mean every police officer should gamble their lives in this situation? It could of easily been a pistol.

There is no easy answer, not when it goes wrong. If whatever was in that guy's hands was a gun and the cop shot him nobody would care or blink an eye. If it was a gun and the cop didn't shoot him and as a result was wounded in the pursuit of his duty people would ask "Why didn't the officer just use his own weapon? Isn't that why they're armed?". In this situation it wasn't a gun, and the cop fired, it's such a hard situation isn't it?

Now let's look at the fact that the guy was getting out his car and approaching the officer in the first place. With or without a object in his hands I'm pretty sure it's standard procedure in the US (please correct me if I'm wrong with his I'm not from the US) that you leave your hands visible (resting on the dash/steering wheel) and wait inside the car in the driver's seat for the office to approach you when you're pulled over. You do not get out the car and approach the officer, ever.

Let this be a life lesson to everyone watching this. If you ever get pulled over by the law it can be scary, it can be confusing, it can be stressful but try and keep a clear head. Don't get angry stay calm. Wait inside the car and do not get out until the officer says it's okay to do so. Make sure the situation stays safe for you and the officer pulling you over.

I don't know the circumstances for what got this guy pulled but it could of been something minor that could of ended up with the officer sending the driver on the way with a verbal warning, but because of fear and panic (on both parties) it went horribly wrong.

I think i have lived somewhat this way and try to shut off strong emotions and sadness so that i don't seem "weak", to be that cool, calm & collected guy. I've tried digging my way out of it, but I always seem to go back because it starts to hurt too much and i fear the uncertainty that i know not when something could go wrong and hurt me/make me sad because of either pure coincidence or worse my own failure/fault.

And i seem to have a safeguard that i try to justify everything before doing something as to stop myself from doing something that might hurt me, and making excuses not to do something. A vicious cycle of inaction, leading to thinking of doing something that would stop my inaction, leading to the fear of judgement/failure, leading to justifying to myself through many multiple scenarios i run through my head that i shouldn't do it because of "X" going to go wrong, leading to inaction.....

And aparently I am a narcissist which seems to mean i have little to no empathy, can't be close with anyone, and am just a shitty person all around.


I'm afraid that, if i havent already, i am going to ruin my life and relationships with the few people i have decent relationships with, not be able to form any meaningful relationship with anyone because i can't trust people enough to try being vulnerable around them, continue to seem cold and distant to others, and all the while sit in a subtle depression where I tell myself i should be content and live only to finish my degree so that i can work to pay off my debts, so that i can afford a house to live in alone and watch as my brother, sister and other cousins my age find partners to love, attend everyones marriage for years to come and always attending alone, watch as my parents die and then eventually die alone myself.
