The problem is that the tech has been refined and researched to such an extreme point that unless everyone is driving the same car (and even then, the fucking wind conditions are enough to skew the results) even the tiniest amount of mechanical/technical advantage overpowers whatever the driver could field with his skill, so trying to keep the playing field leveled with regulations is a losing battle.

At this point old F1 is dead. Plain and simple. I think what it should do is embrace a new, barely regulated techwank aproach and see just how far a "car" could be pushed.
