It really takes to be American to consider miscasted, badly acted, badly edited poor's man Windwalkers to be anything else than trash.
Also, last time I've checked, it was anti-war movie and somehow it managed to get audience solely based on all those "awesome" battle scenes. Irony on its finest.

To qualify for Medic Training, you need to pass Basic Training. Part of which involves rifle course, with shooting, maintaince and so on. Since he refused to even touch a gun, he didn't pass BT, making him ineligible for any military activity or even finishing the boot camp itself.
It took a bunch of pointless paper pushing that almost get him in jail for treason and disobedience and a direct order from a general familiar with the case to allow the guy to attend Medic Training without finishing BT.

Still, the movie is shit and the first half of it is pure, unfiltered cringe. One of the biggest offenders of miscasting in years.

wew lad

american troops shooting surrendering japanese was purely a response to the IJA's double abuse of the Geneva convention because not only did they execute and torture POWs but they also falsely surrended(i.e pretending to surrender to get close to US troops then lobbing a hand grenade)

after a while of these fake surrenders US grunts started shooting surrendering japanese rather than risk their buddies dieing. not legally justifiable but it's a perfect example of why following the rules of war is mutually beneficial

>B-but they were the first to break the law
So?

You still don't get it, do you? If you want to use moral superiority based on "enemy is evil, because he breaks international law", do you NOT do the same to said enemy.

Be butthurt burger somewhere else, looking for excuses to feel heroic after Vietnam, Afganistan and Iraq. Then Americans wonder why everyone is sick and tired of their "superior heroes of the WW2" bullshit movies.

The most fun part is that Japan backed off from sizable chunk of international agreements before the war. Technically they were not even breaking the law, because they weren't obligated to follow it in the first place.

Those were the times...
>>
>>1544155
I don't think he was ever that amazing at writing, but when he directed his own writing (or when he worked with good directors who understood his aesthetic) his movies really clicked.
>>
>>1544173
I never said he was amazing at writing. I deliberately used term "decent".

But pretty much all what you said. His scripts worked, as long as people around him understood what the hell he's trying to do.
>>
>>1544175
Yeah I read too much into it, mostly because it was just fresh on my mind as I was re-watching Some Kind of Wonderful. As a package it comes together really well, but the writing was so much hokier than I remembered.

>>
>>1544194
In previous thread we had a similar trick pulled with Miracle Mile webms. Just by posting them in different order than they happen in-story and numbering them accordingly to new order, it can be watched as completely different story than it really is.

Personally, I consider movie webm threads as a ground as "selling" those movies - picking some scenes and even giving them a spin, just to get people interested in specific title.

And nothing sells better than highschool lesbians. No, really. Nothing.

And the original anon definitely didn't have any, or he wouldn't be asking.
>>
>>1544475

so now the steps are (for every time you want to find the title for a webm)
>download it

>copy and paste it to search if it is the actual title of the movie you are looking for

versus
(once)
>click a link to activate the extension
and then from then on

literally not faster.

My advice - go first find "Róża" (Rose) by the same director. If you will enjoy the film, in a sense of not being repulsed by all the nasty shit that happens in it, then you might try this one. And it still will leave a very bitter aftertaste.
However, If "Róża" will be too much, I concure with other anons - it's just too brutal to take.

Smarzowski is infamous for making films that leave the same feeling as if drinking entire bottle of tar.

What movie is this?
>>
>>1546528
I mean that the scene in actual "Some Kind Of Wonderful" plays differently and this webm is made out of a home-made re-cut of that scene to completely change the mood.
To make it as explicit and simple as possible - imagine someone picked up a music clip and then chopped it to tell a different story, but ended up with chopped song in the process. So he muted the sound completely and was left with silent movie.

tl;dr - there are no high-school lesbians in the movie.

Son, I remember more parents being angry about that moment in fucking Up out of all things, where kids were pissing their pants, because it was dark, the music was scary, the bad guy captured the bird, the house was on fire etc.
Because it was all so fucking explicit, kids were genuinely scared.

Meanwhile, in Atlantis, a big robot attacks submarine. You only realises how many people died when you start thinking about it and are big enough to comprehend it. Then there is the finale, when the only dead-dead person is the king and Rourke himself. Other than that - a lot of implying, not much seen.

certain foods are banned because illness was connected with them ages ago

the bible is as much religious text as it is jewish law connected straight to society and government, it's why "you can't wear mixed cloth" is on their for seemingly no reason. It's the bible's version of "you can't wear red rainboots on a sunday in montana"

Neither do I.
Look, I get it, you are pissed, because instead of the straight answer you've got a retort about metadata. Guess what - that's how I've learned how to look for titles of webms, before asking for them.

Plus, if that fails (since not everyone is nice enough to keep titles in metadata, you can always do a bit of detective work. Putting "Gregoire de Fronsac" into the browser instantly pops out the right movie too. Usually to be safe you can add "imdb" to the character you are looking for.

And before you start with "but it takes too much time" - it takes less than asking for the title, since you don't need to solve captcha for that.

For the budget they had, it's fucking brilliant. I mean we are talking about glorified direct-to-DVD film here and the only thing that makes you realise how small the budget was is the fact it happens almost entirely in the morgue set. But it doesn't feel bad because of it, kind of helps build the tension instead.
Also, it's always nice to see competent characters in a horror movie.

I saw the movie because I fucking love Gemma Arterton (solid film, too), but I didn't watch through to the credits

now I'm gonna have to re-dl it again, fuck
>>
>>1558261
Just watch the opening scene before the kidnapping and then the final one, in the car, right before credits starts rolling. You will understand why it's the best

It's a real shame her bit attempt for Hollywood turned out to be a finacial bomb. She ended up playing great roles, but in bunch of small films, and at this point she will just fade away within next decade. Real fucking shame.

what film is this from?

The cinematography looks fantastic, a lot better than most Hollywood releases.
>>
>>1558552
Color of Night. It's a really goofy movie that treats itself dead serious. Sort of how the Ass Creed movie treats itself - pure absurd, but everyone behaves and acts as if it was a high-brow stuff.

No, it was stupid.

I blame the filmmaker though.

She was in a shitty place during war time so none of those things were available to her.

It'd have made a lot of sense for her to want to swipe a grape, not having access to them and living shittily, but it looks like she just goes, HMMM GRAPES *eats*

so yeah, stupid.

But I think this movie was an utter waste of time and space. I regret having watched it.

I thought that it was an allegory for temptation, especially with the fascist themes. Similar to how her mother is marrying the general so that she can be safe. Forbidden fruit are the most appealing, even when danger is right next to you.
