I was always under the impression that gondolas were about the feeling the combination of image and music gave off.

It doesn't matter whether a gondola is animated or still image so long as some thought was put in to create that certain feeling. Sad, happy, comfy, or really just anything.

If the viewer gets some kind of emotional response or feeling from the music and image combination than I think its a good job.

I definitely think that there's a benefit to 'post-ironic' memes though, at least for gondola. I'm not against the sillier side of things, but sometimes it feels like things have to be ironic with no touch of sincerity to get passed around, whereas gondola has none of that, which makes it refreshing, and is why (as far as I know) so many people enjoy it. Absolutely agree with this. Seems like every popular "meme" on the internet recently has to be some mean-spirited, meta-ironic garbage. Everyone's built up these joking-but-not personas because that's what anonymity leads to.
I was on Youtube the other day and I came across some old animutations from the early 2000s. It was only 15 years ago but it all seemed so genuine, just some kids mucking around with adobe flash, throwing in some funny pictures and weird inside joke catchphrases. It was so simple then, but it felt more real than whatever trash "memes" are thrown around today.

maybe in some cases, but not always, gondola is a key example of that. The problem isn't anonymity, I see it in real life to: people enjoy laughing at people who try. I don't know if you know/remember, but last year when everyone got really into pokemon go this russian kid made a song called 'I play pokemon go' about how much he liked the game, and everyone teased him ruthlessly for it. All he was was a kid who liked a game and wanted to do something creative with that joy. Even 'public' internet figures mocked him. I don't know, I just feel like gondola should be kept from the mocking and insincere crowds of the internet for as long as it can, just so people who don't have a problem with sincerity can have a meme of their own.

I know when gondola handle objects they're usually depicted using their feet, but what if gondola had a non physical means of interacting with their environment? In veggie tales some people say the vegetables have a weak form of telekinesis. Something like that would make sense if a Gondola went into space and had to interact with a complex control panel.
