just google german logging film
>>1524761
damn tnx! i tried to google all kind of logging, but i didnt know it was a German language from just those few phrases. think i even tried Gallic at some point.
>>1524783
it's some weird southern accent, only one phrase sounded german to me. Thought it might have been scandinavian or something.
Thank you, I already watched that movie because of you. Got to use my dusty german again.
>>1524955
Yes it is indeed German. The accent is austrian. I would put it in South Tyrol which is now part of Italy.

I had to cut down the bitrate to shit for this but I hope it's worth it. Opening to Season 4 of The Wire. This is the scene I show to friends that are on the edge, not that "Fuck" scene bullshit. I'll upload it elsewhere in higher quality because the Blu-Rays were worth it.

That's from the new one. Comes out this year.
>>1525413
I think one of my all-time favorite episodes is still the very first one. It's such a cool concept for the issue they had to face.
>>1528296
I wish they had focused more on the war and survival aspect. The pseudo-religion was sort of interesting by season 2, 3 was a fucking drag, and 4 was good but somewhat wtf
>>1528296
First episode established that these were intelligent characters who obeyed military command even under extreme circumstances.
The way his intuition kicks in, immediately calls action stations, and how no one questions it. I fucking love it.
>>1524059
This. Came here to say this.
Unfortunately, Prometheus 2 (just kinding guise, it's Alien again now) will be just as much of a fuckfest, according to the trailer.

Maybe I am just a pleb but I find this show very hard to get in to. It feels so dense; I am five episodes in and it is feeling more like a chore than entertainment.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I looking at this show from the wrong perspective? I love sci-fi and WANT to like it... but I can't.
It drops you in the middle of this entire universe (no pun intended) and you're expected to hit the ground running. Nothing is established.
I feel stupid.

Not him, but Young Pope works on similar principle. If you will be able to start on your own, without forcing yourself to continue, episode 3, after watching first two, then you will like the show.
If you can't fucking bear it after those two episodes, the rest will literally piss you off to the point of rage.

>>1538842

>>1539806
Very much Mandarin. And the proper term is just Chinese, learn that already. I don't get it why English language is so fucking stubborn when it comes to accepting the reality of "Mandarin" being used by 95-96% of all China on daily basis and everything else being basically local accent anyway.

Which one? The film was pretty solid as a whole, with no weird scenes in it.
Unless you count the confusion for first 20 or so minutes to realise this is not western in America with Austrians and Austrian Alps, but western in Tyrol with Austrians.

I've never seen it. Is it worth watching?
>>1559142
It's piece of shit after first two seasons. It cease to be interesting by mid-season finale of 2nd season. By 4th season even most of veteran fans quit. Legend says there were still some people watching 6th season of it, but nobody ever met them.
Don't get me wrong, this series basically reinvented how all series were made ever since, but man, the drop of quality after first two season was just absurd and the show lost any pop-culture significance while it was still running.
So in the end, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
>>1559142
Lost is like the most enticing box of chocolates you ever saw, the packaging is all gold lined and shit and you're drooling just reading the list on the back. Then you open it and it turns out there's just a bag of random machine parts inside, none of which fit together.
Does anyone have the scene of Raiders of the lost ark where Bulloq tells Indiana "Why, Dr. Jones, whatever are you doing in such a nasty place?". The only clip on YouTube cuts it.
>>1559142

>Legend says there were still some people watching 6th season of it, but nobody ever met them.
My old boss watched all of Lost. He said it was the most disappointing unfulfilling ending he had ever seen until I reminded him Fringe existed. Weirdly he also still like it past the 4th season.

I've dropped Fringe after the first one. My hardcore friend who watches every series he starts watching until it ends (he's currently trapped with TWD, complaining each week how bad the series is) dropped Fringe after 3rd season and that means something.
>>1578136

The best part of the movie was the entire sequence when Max just passively watches as the bandits capture the due of settlers, maim the guy, rape and kill the woman and then just sit passively and waits. After there is just single guy left, he finally shows up, kills him and when the settler starts to thank you, he instantly cuts him with "I'm just here for the gasoline".
That shit was chilling back in the mid-80s, where you have a fuckload of all sorts of action heroes rushing to help and then suddenly... this guy. Or how Max barely scraps alive from the car accident and his best "friend" gets killed. It was such a massive game changer people today can't even imagine how HUGE this was to have actual, flesh and bone anti-heroic figure.
And the entire movie is like that.
The modern "remake" (because I can't treat Fury Road as anything else than moder remake of MM2) completely missed the mark, instead being generic heroic fiction with invincible dude and hard-core chick doing impossible stunts. Impressive, sure, but God, it misses the mark
>>1578238
It was the first show I dropped as well which is a shame, because it had tremendous potential. The thought of what could have been kept me going through midway of season 5.
>>1551972

This is off-topic, but there's no other thread I can post this to.
So, if you can pretend that you've never seen the movie Drive, and you watch this trailer, what kind of genre would you think this movie is?

Wasn't there a SMBC comic about that? Someone says "this show is crap" and the other person says "no no, you need to let the show beat you down! You need to let it wear away your idea of 'good' until any flash of quality makes you think the show's actually amazing" or some shit?
Not necessarily saying the comic applies to these shows, just kind of a funny mindset. I know a few of my friends that have started watching shows that they didn't like, but basically redefined their standards for "good" as the show went on.
