If you dislike Channel Zero you're a turbo pleb. The story can be a bit shaky but the way the horror is handled is masterful. The show deserves its viewership on the atmosphere and scares alone. It's a breath of fresh air for a horror show / film to not be directed by a fucking retard.

looks a bit like STALKER (headlamp, old vehicles strewn about, general atmosphere), but there are no M16/ARs in the base game (unless you count the LR-3000, which I do not).

But it could also be some game I'm not familiar with.

That's definitely a STALKER game, that particular wobble, the way the headlamp swings and everything you said before. The M16 is probably in one of the many arsenal mods.
