How do you lads get good quality webm recordings?

I use Nvidia Shadowplay/GeForce Experience to capture, then encode the videos in handbrake to mp4. I'd like 60fps webm but maybe that's much to ask for. Then usually put them at 1280x720 for resolution. Still gets too big, quality looks pretty crap and it shortens out. See this failed webm as an example

Lower the fucking resolution, holy shit. There's no reason for a clip that long, with that detail and that amount of movement to be 1920x1080. You also have another 1MB to work with as /gif/ and /wsg/ have 4MB file limits. Lower it to 720p or even 480p, crank up the bitrate and maximize the filesize.

I am the robot one poster

The game is titanfall 2 and it's basically call of duty with robots

What was happening in the webm was both I and the enemy player were the Robots, "Scorch", which as the name suggests have abilities based around fire

In the game there are also things called Executions/Terminations which are basically just fancy kill animations which only trigger when the enemy robot is put into a "Doomed" state where they can no longer recover health and are much more vulnerable than before.

I charged forward after using what is basically my Ultimate attack and because he was weak enough, I got the Termination which normally would be a large explosion.

Here's an alternate version that has the explosion though it's lower quality I think

Thanks for the link. I've been waiting for months for CoaDE to go on sale. I tried it before (space pirate!) and was underwhelmed with the controls and AI, so I haven't yet justified the expenditure.

I can stomach unrealistic gameplay if it's outweighted by fun. But often a lack of realism is just lackluster game design; where genre cliches are used instead of natural systems that actually make sense.

Also your missile launchers are stupid (or I am). They can fire arbitrarily long bursts not limited by the number of launchers - up to the number of missiles in stock - but take forever to reload.

This makes no sense to me. If they reload that slowly, then I should only be able to fire bursts as large as the number of launchers.

Maybe I just don't get it.

Alright, as to your tutorials, there's a few things I can think of:

Tutorial 1:
Put the navigation markers closer to the ship, or give players a faster ship for the tutorial, or keep amusing them with witty banter about how slow the Phalanx is. Otherwise they'll be put off by how long it takes to get places, and how slow it reacts to commands. Sure, it's a capital ship, but most players won't be used to that.

Give them some way to flip back to old messages.

Make sure that *every* step necessary to accomplish the objectives is mentioned; e.g. that you need to click to fire the guns, wait for them to reload, wait for them to align, need radar-lock on to fire guided missiles, that you *always* need to manually switch on engines and radar when you start a game...

Also, make damn sure your success and failure conditions for the tutorial objectives are spot on, because I managed to kill the enemy ship and the tutorial just wouldn't let me finish.

That's what I managed to think of off the bat.

Remember that first-time user experience goes beyond just the tutorials; but I'm already spoilt. Be sure to ask lots of people what their very first impression was.

I know your going for a more realistic depiction of what a massive ass space battle would be like, but they just start way too slow.
I hope in later versions your going to add ftl functionality for A.I. ships so that they can get to the battle faster.
Also; Ftl is a little annoying to use, hope your going to change it in the future so that you don't have to guess distances and end up overshooting an objective just to have your ship take forever to turn around.

Get rid of the gradients in favor of solid colors, and make the shapes as basic as possible. Downgrade the background.
You've probably played Captain Forever, take a page out of his book. I'm not saying copy it but your game probably isn't about how it looks but how it plays, and removing elements irrelevant to that is a good way forward.
