I think what he's getting at is, in a better constructed DC cinematic universe, Superman wouldn't have died until, like 10 movies in, when it would have actually been thematically sad for him to die. Kinda like when people were expecting Captain American to die at the end of Civil War.

10 movies in, Superman would have been one of the founders of the Justice League and a beacon of hope to the other heroes, even Batman; who would relearn what it means to be a hero.

Anyone here remember The What A Cartoon! Show? For those who don't have that memory for their childhood, imagine a show in which every episode was a completely new, self contained cartoon episode. All of CN's great original cartoons in the mid-late 90s and even 2000's came from this setup. Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff, Courage, even Megas XLR was part of the early 2000 revival known as the Cartoon Cartoon show. They show off all these cartoons and gauged the interest in them then made shows of the popular concepts.

McCracken (of powerpuff fame) attempted a new modern day revival of the project, named Cartooninstitute. sadly it was scrapped partway through production of the shorts in favor of a number of other much cheaper to produce canadian full size cartoons and live action shows.

only a handful of shorts got completed, the execs decided that since the live action stuff was failing they would just pick whatever they liked from the few shorts made and make those into shows.

There were some big names attched to it like Tartakovsky. Don't quote me on this but I recall hearing the scrapping of this program was the final straw for a few long time CN animators and they quite.


TLDR: regular show was greenlit by sheer virtue of being only a handful of completed shows for a big project meant to have viewers vote on what they wanted. sadly thast never happened
