This is one of the few recordings I made of my cat. She was hit by a car and died about a month after I made this.

But he did surrender when we dropped the big bomb so it did work. That was a dark part of our history but at the time Japan had a god emperor and if we had to take it by land invasion every man woman and child would have fought us.

Missing the point that they had already offered surrender, so long as they kept Korea and let their emperor live, before the first bomb.
After the first bomb, but before the second, the only condition they had left is that we let their emperor live, but we refused it on the basis that the offer came through Russia, because, by then, we'd conventionally bombed the last of their mainland diplomatic core.
...and what what did we do when we finally accepted their unconditional surrender? That's right, we let their emperor live.
Granted, in the end, it was more about sending Stalin a message and making sure we got their surrender before he did. Between the two bombs, Stalin killed more Jap soldiers in Manchuria than we did in the entire war, and was prepping to move on over and take Japan for himself (with the last of their own fleet, on less). So without those two bombs, Japan probably woulda wound up on the wrong side of the iron curtain come the cold war.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. When you're constantly being force-fed propaganda portraying Americans as ISIS-tier subhuman monsters who will delightfully rape and torture you to death if they capture you, surrender doesn't exactly sound very appealing.

My Russian isn't the best but here's a rough translation:
>Here is.... what's this thing called?
>BRDM
>a BRDM by [inaudible] checkpoint, I don't know from where exactly
>these boys laying here are ours
>sent to their death
>11 men (from the background)
>11 men
>just lying there like that
>those poor kids, they were good boys
>>1482068
The soldiers have a Russian accent and their gear looks Russian too. But some questions. What happend to them exactly? It looks almost like they were gunned down after the BTR broke.
And or those Russian troops in Ukraine?
>>1485016
>or
are*
>>1485016
I don't have any info on what happened exactly but I suspect that it happened last winter or possibly the one before that on the northern front in Lugansk where a lot of the fighting for checkpoints in specific took place.
It appears as though they were caught by surprise in the open while on a recon patrol. The BRDM (a recon vehicle) can't really hold any passengers so they were all filed up behind it when they got hit. It doesn't take much to perforate the armor of a BRDM so it likely got taken out quickly, and the rest of the men overwhelmed before they could make a proper retreat.
They may also have been under mortar fire, Ukrainian mortar fire has grown increasingly accurate over the years, even in adverse weather they've scored some pretty good hits, and there are impact craters all around.
But yeah the men are Russian, probably volunteers although you don't see the BRDM-2 much in the separatist armies.
Anyone know the source for this?

Have you seen Hellboy or read any H.P. Lovecraft?
Basically, a bunch of kids find a gateway to another world. That other world is full of otherworldly horrors and an elder God (something so horrible that mortal minds can't comprehend it).
The thing leaks through and starts possessing/killing them. The girl escapes to the other world and sees the giant elder God, which causes her brain to explode, shooting fire out her eyes.
It goes back to old horror tropes about some things being too terrible for our minds to process.

Those civilians are either directly or indirectly responsible for supplying the war effort. It's hard to maintain an army in the industrial age without a long logistical train stretching back to the factories and the people who work in them. >>1482806
You're missing the point that the US' intention was to make Japan fully capitulate under a military occupation of the island, wherein a constitution drawn up by the US would be imposed. Key word there is imposed, because without military occupation as leverage, the US would never have the bargaining terms to force a democratic government so Japan would never become militant human rights abusers again. Looking at Japan today, I think the imposition was entirely justified.
Of course they offered terms of surrender before the bombs, their defeat was inevitable and they were desperate for any terms better than total acquiescence to either the US or the Soviets. The US racing to militarily occupy the island and drafting Japan's current constitution is probably one of the greatest foreign policy achievements in US history. The nuclear bombings were mainly a necessity to make them capitulate without exorbitant US troop losses, not to send a message to Stalin. It's laughably absurd to suggest the bombings were mainly a warning to Stalin when the US knew the Soviets had infiltrated the Manhattan project and knew of the incredibly expensive cost of developing the bomb and could be reasonably sure that our nuclear arsenal had been exhausted by the bombings in Japan and couldn't soon be replenished. There's no evidence that it was mainly a demonstration to Stalin and the plausibility of that theory is very low.
>>1481742
Unfortunately, those citizens were involved in a system devoted to total war. Nothing but total war in response and their complete acquiescence would have been satisfactory. Total defeat, capitulation, military occupation, and imposition of a democratic constitution with human rights guarantees would have been satisfactory. It would have been foolish to think that they would have adopted it themselves, being so brainwashed by imperial japan, and wouldn't have developed a strong desire of revanchism without total domination and military occupation.

he claims the air raids killed 50-90% of the population in 67 japanese cities BEFORE dropping the nuclear bombs which is bullshit
the estimate is that all the raids killed about 330k and injured almost half a million. this is not even 5% of the population. what may be true is that 50-90% of buildings were burnt down in those cities because they were made out of wood but most people were displaced, not killed
when you make such a huge mistake just for a stronger appeal to emotion you lose all credibility
I think that the Japanese got what they deserved and that is the end of it. still crying about Japanese atrocities during WW2 is just as wrong as crying about the nuclear bombs. the Japanese did bad things. they got destroyed for it. and now the Japanese do good things

Apparently the local population is super creepy, like cult-like stereotypical horror movie shit. High schoolers were fucking around and walking down some back alleys when some girl started getting real close with one of them and saying weird, creepy-ass shit. They hot-footed it out of the area when they started hearing voices from around buildings and shit.
They saw a group of people just walking down the road so they got into a nearby drainage ditch and snuck past the group of peeps.
The left the town (pretty small town, land-wise) by crawling down a drainage tunnel until they found an opening on the outskirts of town.
Kid was wearing a mask for some reason or another.
