Post the most epic and beautiful chiptunes.

I start with some gems from Alberto Gonzalez (Mc Alby), famous video game music composer.

Sound a lot like some Astérix & Obélix tracks. Did Infogrames compose the soundtracks?

Hey, don't blame me. OP insisted on calling it "8-bit" music and I am just trying to keep people in line.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaIoW1aL9GE

>>1475807
Asterix & Obelix on the GB/C/A, DOS and SNES was indeed scored by the one and only Alberto Jose Gonzalez. It was his only SNES soundtrack, as his company, Bit Managers, only handled the 8-bit versions for Infogrames, since they had their own in house team for 16-bit.
Though I don't get that they did not realise that Gonzalez was a much better musician than their own artists.

Is there another solution outside of ffmpeg?

It's not. Just turn the FPS all the way down. You don't need 30 frames a second of the same picture over 3 minutes. Rendering the video and the webm should take no more than 2 minutes.

Went through every remix of that song from every CV game one day and was pretty disappointed that CV1 had the only good version of it. It's almost impressive how bad most of the remixes of that song are considering how well many songs were remixed in other games. If only they had included it in CV4, I'm sure they would have gotten it right in that at least

Space Harrier is my fav soundtrack from any
Game Gear game.

It was never good to begin with.

Megalovania is overrated crap. Basically every other theme is better. Not using Song That Might Play was a mistake.

Hello my fellow patrician / contrarian faggot.

This is indeed the best choice.

Great taste.

Can anyone help or explain please? I lost the few I'd saved from this thread and now when I come here only the last half that's been posted work, the upper half doesn't work at all

I'd really like to have these
>>

Seems like 4chins had some data loss, I don't know

https://desuarchive.org/wsg/thread/1472577/

Use the archives.

Why are you saving from here by the way, these are just rips from youtube videos with a shitload of audio compression on already heavily compressed audio.

There is software that you can use to listen to game music that actually emulates the sound chips. You can download entire game OSTs that are only a couple of KB and they'll always be pristine quality because they're being synthesized in real time instead of listening to a recording.

Go to https://vgmrips.net/packs/ for some examples, you can even listen in the browser.

Thanks man
>>

thanks for the site
can you download nsfs or is vgz the only option
>>

For NSFs go here:
http://nsf.joshw.info/

Here, have more sites:

http://snesmusic.org ( SNES SPCs, they will be seen as PKCS #7 certificates when you look at them in folders)
http://www.planetemu.net (Anything. Pick an Emulator and go to the Music section where the Roms are.)
http://snesmusic.org/hoot/v2/ (Various Japanese computer systems like the X68000 and the MSX)
http://gsf.caitsith2.net/ (Game Boy Advance GSFs)
http://snesmusic.org/hoot/gbs/ (Larger collection of Game Boy music)
http://nsf.joshw.info/ (NES/Famicom)
http://project2612.org/ (Sega Megadrive VGMS)
http://vgm.mdscene.net/forum/index.php (All kinds of VGMS, a newer rapidly growing website)
http://www.smspower.org/Music/VGMs (Master System VGMs)
http://forums.ffshrine.org/ (MP3s on mediafire, rapidshare)
http://www.zophar.net/music.html (anything in particular)
http://www.hcs64.com/ (n64, gamecube/psx streaming audio tools, etc.
ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/ (modules, sound chips, demoscene)
http://chiptunes.back2roots.org/
http://mapage.noos.fr/kaminari/hes/ (PC-Engine HES files)

(un)fortunately all this stuff isn't exactly centralized yet and is spreaded around the internet:

If you're using windows I'd recommend getting foobar2000 with the Game Emu Player plugin and other plugins for easy listening
>>
>>1557821
Wish I'd understand any of this, I just wanted to get some nostalgia going but I don't get any of that

Let's restore some.

I think this'll do
>>
>>1559131
It's not complicated at all. You download the music files from those sites and play them with foobar2000

Here I pre-packaged a portable build with all the plugins that are needed:
