He's talking about a weird-ass Frenchman.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Baudrillard
Frenchmen be cray, far away you should stay.
On a more serious note though, if you have at least a minimal grasp on where he is coming from, a moderate interest in rather weird and radical thinking and a considerable interest in actually reading through the dense&semicomprehensible work, then you shall be rewarded with at least a few insights and ideas that seem to describe shit like what you just saw in that video.
Even if his thought is one that seems to hail from a curtain beyond some kind of Singularity we have not reached yet, the trajectory we are on can described and examined with it to a unsetteling extent.
See the video corresponding to current events n shit.
There's a fucking reason the Matrix had "muh Simulacra and Simulation"-Shit all over the place. And such.

anyway, this happens everywhere in the west. but I think that although postmodernism has a good grasp of the media (the way things happen), still we live amidst poverty and misery (even though these terms, as many others, vary a lot).

Didn't mean to link that to you specifically, and maybe I should set it up.

The kid is talking to the incarnation of the historical figure of Gilles de Rais, a French nobleman who served as a commander under Joan of Arc. He was later convicted of systematically murdering 600+ children over the space of several years, however, there's a lot of evidence to suggest his conviction was politically motivated and his land and wealth went directly to those who brought persecution.

The kid is a (presumably entirely fictional) serial killer with a penchant for slicing open young girl's stomachs.

The show [Fate/Zero] has a few gems like this, but otherwise isn't much worth watching, though it has more eye candy that my crammed compression suggests.

this effect is achieved by changing the key of the music in a cycle that makes it sound like the tone is always increasing in pitch. I can't find anything describing it because I don't know what it's called, but they talk about it in the book Godel, Escher, Bach.

>>1467249
This is unreal. I've seen a lot of optical illusions in my day, but this may be the first time I've heard an auditory illusion.
>>
>>1467249
I know this illusion is usually affected by adding an additional layer of notes an octave lower than the note towards the end of the loop.

In this case, at around the 8-9 second mark, you can hear a small chirrup indicating the beginning of the lower octave.

>Treating the indivual
Our indivudal consciousness is highly affected by our gender, the way we speak, the way we think, the subtext of our emotions, all biologically primed during the infant puberty and the actual puberty. It's all about the hormone cocktail our gender chromosomes induce us in, estrogene, progesterone form the female and vasopressin, testosterone and the mullerian inhibiting horme form the male brain, leading to certain areas of the brain being differntly developed than others. We like to believe that our Individuall is above gender, but the cold truth is that it isn't, the structure of our brain is the foundation for the way we process things and men and women just have significant differences. I wonder if this is just old, or if the guy is just some "I studied [enter useless sociology degree here] and biology is nonsense!" kind of guy

I discovered Alan Watts when I was in like the 7th grade. There was a YouTube video of his titled "DMT and Mysticism". It says it's 7 years old now, but I remember at least 9 years ago.

I watched the video. It made no sense to me. I watched it time and time again, and I couldn't really grasp what was being said. I sent it to a friend of mine, and asked her, "Does this make any sense to you?" She said, "Nah, it just sounds like gibberish." I kept that video close though. I listened it every few months, sometimes rather absent-mindedly. Something about it was really comforting. That's what got me into listening to philosophy lectures.

Anyway, Alan Watts is fucking awesome.

>rambling nonsense
He tells about his nihilistic view where everything exists because of purpose. If there is no purpose for something it is impossible for such a thing to exist simply because it doesn't have any purpose whatsoever. While Smith was able to break free from the machine control, it didn't necessarily mean he was able to be free because as he says
>there's no denying purpose
he has to do something with his new abilities because for some reason he came back alive after Neo first "destroyed" him. In a way he is similar to Neo because Neo was able to destroy Smith when he broke "free" from the machine control and went on to serve a new purpose with his new abilities.
So then they ended up there in the alley, facing each other with different conflicting purposes in mind. And because of that they are not free.

IQ is fucking bullshit. Its a sham test designed by someone to allow them to proclaim there intelligence. There is no evidence to suggest that IQ is correlated with any real world applicability. And I don't need science to disprove the credence of an IQ test if anyone wants I can give them an entire proof against it regardless of any presented statistics.
>>
>>1508365
Besides anyone who knows less than anything knows that the fucking IQ test is a sham; the only measurable (and accurate) test of human intelligence is how far they're perception of any individual is influenced by a fucking test. >you are now aware that people don't always live by their ideals. Even though the ideals may be sound.
But I sort of agree with you, having gone through the phase of listening to Watt's stuff for years. His ideas are very comforting but should only be employed by people in quite specific situations in their lives.
The problem as far as I can tell is that Watt's lectures and books tend to give off a strong sense of nihilism. Or a pretty radical relativism if you prefer. So I'd say that if you live in a very shitty situation, his stuff may alleviate your pain and help you overcome some stress. But if you got your shit in life mostly in order, you really shouldn't bother since all that relativism will only serve to undermine and deconstruct your values.

did you even listen to what he said?

he's not at all saying that gender doesn't affect us as individuals. he's saying that morally and practically we should refrain from making policy that discriminates between genders and instead prefer to judge on individual merit despite the existence of demonstrable (and pretty clear cut statistical) differences between men and woman like the ones you stated. gender is important and makes a difference but it isn't the end all and should not be treated as such i think is what he's tentatively trying to get across.

>I wonder if this is just old, or if the guy is just some "I studied [enter useless sociology degree here] and biology is nonsense!" kind of guy

Dang, so you can't give any sort of brief explanation as to what the OP is conveying?
>>
>>1521990
Just had to refresh my memory with some of the text, but it essentially has to do with how we perceive reality and what it is that we can know. Kant's transcendental idealism, to my recollection, is the position that humans learn about the world/universe not just through our senses, but through a priori which is knowledge that we are born with. Thus, knowledge is not limited to experience.

It's a really hard concept to wrap your mind around without reading some in-depth synopsis or the entire text itself. The problem with trying to understand him is that Kant speaks in language that most people don't use, his text is translated from German to English, and he was autistic as fuck.

Believe me, I wish I was smart enough to go around acting like I understood that shit, but it's fucking hard. Try reading Hegel or Saul Kripke. All of them are autistic robots who have no understanding of speaking in layman's terms.

>>
>>1521990

Well, it comes down to the phenomenal world, which is the way everything appears to us, and the numinous world, which is how everything essentially is. Kant said, we can never know anything about the numinous world, since we only have appearances to work with. However, our minds are constructed in ways that frame how things appear to us. Even the absolute most basic of assumption, like space and time, are structures our mind is programed to filter reality through and produced the appearance of what we call space and time. This distinction and others he made, are sort of revolutionary in philosophy because it so clearly articulated what our limits of knowledge are, and that when investigating reality, we are investigating the way reality appears to us, always. Exploring the world is in a way just exploring ourselves. We have rules and limitations that define everything about how we think.

It wouldn't have, but I've recently rescinded my previous opinion, and instead opted for the more plausible (and widely agreed upon) argument that the IQ test is accurate in terms of capability and aptitude to learn, but does not qualify (or in this case measure) intelligence as a metric; frankly, intelligence is unreal (in the philosophical sense) and completely subjective.

Engineers that (if they follow the dustification nonsense) aren't practicing their field. There is no actual evidence for dustification. The concept of it was cooked up by a batshit crazy lady named Judy Wood who has never been able to withstand even basic questioning regarding her nonsense. She made it all up to sell books, but unfortunately for her, credulous dipshits ate it up and now she's a spokesperson for the conspiracists when I don't think she ever meant to be.

Yeah, this. I've been around a few places, here and in other countries, and the kind of teenage years / young adulthood you see in the media is complete fiction, or something for the kinds of wastrels who'll never have to work a day in their lives thanks to family connections.

I wouldn't want to be one of those people anyway; their way of existing disgusts me, and that's not sour grapes talking. There's just something empty about that kind of living that I couldn't ever feel comfortable with. I know that a lot of those people eventually feel that crushing hollowness to their lives, but it typically comes when they're swallowing a gun or snorting their tenth eight ball before downing pills.

I haven't read any Kant, but this is what he seems to be saying to me.

First divide our mental processes into sensory perception and reason.

Objects perceived by the senses must exist in space and time, but we perceive space and time as well, even without regard for objects, thus they are also sensory.

We use these base sensory perceptions of space and time to make sense of all other sense data. If this holds true for the world of the senses, then it most likely holds true for the world of reason.

In the case of reason, it is the laws of logic which correlate to spacetime sensation. In other words, just as physical objects must be placed in space and time in order to comprehend them, thought-objects must be placed in the context of logic to reason through them.

Here we see a problem with the sciences. Sciences are empirical - they rely on the analysis of sense data. However, Newton's reasoning which birthed the intuitive leap that made his innovations possible was not merely deduced from sense data. It required knowledge which existed within him outside of his experience in order to make the inductive leap. This is "a priori" knowledge.

Likewise, we know nature follows laws, but how we come to know this is unclear. In other words, if we were only perceiving sense data, there would not, of necessity, be the inductive leaps which enable us to comprehend the laws of nature. This is a form of intuition, and Kant wishes to dissect our cognitive processes to try and understand how it works.

So you recall that Space and Time are merely senses? In that case, all objects which we perceive have "spatiotemporal extension" - meaning all objects exist in a specific context in space and time. If space and time are forms of our senses, then any object we perceive with the senses also has dimensions which are spacial and temporal.

>con't below
>>
>>1534606
If an object is extended it is a plurality. This is true because if the object existed as a single concrete entity there would be nothing and nowhere to extend it to. The extension does not happen in the dimensions of the object - it happens in the dimensions of spacetime.

However, we perceive singular objects - whole entities. How is this possible?

It is because we are assimilating the information into our minds, part by part, using already existing data. We are continually relating new sense data to existing data. So, we are not conscious of the object for what it is, we are "self-conscious," as we have related all information about the object to the pre-existing body of information within us - meaning we are conscious of the object only in the context of ourselves.

Our "self" creates the order of the interrelations of our senses, and this governs our perceptions.

The rules of the mind correspond to scientific casual laws, but how can we know that, like natural laws, they are constant?

We can know because the self is a synthesis born over time - relating itself to itself. In order for self-awareness to happen, the rules which govern the synthesizing must be stable.

If they are stable, this also means that what we perceive in the future will be bound by the internal laws of mind which are already in place.

These are the laws which regulate our reason, and all of our perception is also subject to them.

I hope that clears it up for you. I'm hardly ever certain whether I've been clear.

This isn't an affirmation of this kind of sollipsism, but a criticism of it. This scene concludes with a shot of a man who's climbed up to the top of a pole. The group asks him why, and he says that he really didn't think it through. They conclude by saying that they and the man up the pole are the same; the man up the pole is all action and no thought, they're all thought and no action. It's an argument against meaningless rhetoric, but you wouldn't get that from the context of this clip.

I think there is a world of difference between the three.
Kant, I find it hard to read because writes in a very precise language, but Hegel seems to be in the opposite end writing mostly on abstractions. The latter is much harder than Kant.

Kripke is fairly clear if you have the proper background of the problem he talks about, at difference of Kant or Hegel. The main difference of course, lies in that both Kant and Hegel constructed a HUGE system, while Kripke has worked on specific problems.

>>
>>1508365
>There is no evidence to suggest that IQ is correlated with any real world applicability.
IQ is by definition correlated to real world applicability since it a composite score of cognitive tasks (g factor).

If it is applied or not it is a different matter. IQ are vague on purpose, because they very idea of intelligence is vague enough. As it stands, IQ allows the flexibility of high performances in a particular task by people with low IQ and it also allows the opposite. The measure it is very general, to the point a person could ask if it useful for anyone to know his IQ, but this does not change the fact that IQ arises from evidence of the posibility to extrapolate cognitive tasks from a controlled setting to real life in which a combination of these are used to solve problems.

Kinda dangerous, wouldn't you say? What counts as a "moderate?" One who is friendly to all? Isn't there a well known adage that goes 'A friend to all is a friend to none?' Because, despite their low numbers, relative to the host nation, they always seem to find themselves in seats of power, be in finance, legislation, media, etc. Look at the SCOTUS. 9 members, 3 are jews, yet jews make up only 2% of the US population. Look at Hollywood. MGM? Warner Bros? Disney? Take a look at the CEOs and head chairmen. Goldman Sachs? Wells Fargo? Citi? Same story. Hell, CNN is owned by an Israeli! And don't even get me started on the Talmud...

A few instances is a fluke, a dozen is a phenomena, a hundred is a pattern. Sometimes it isn't just low hanging fruit. Sometimes there's good reason to not like a group and to want them to be as separated from you and yours as possible.

It's not like those studios were simply founded by jews...
People seem to have a hard time getting their heads around the fact that the Hollywood studio system – think of it what you will – and by extension Hollywood cinema as a whole simply WOULDN'T EXIST if Jewish entrepreneurs hadn't founded those studios. It simply wouldn't.

And guess why Jews are such a force in the banking and trade sectors and the financial markets? It goes way back: In the middle ages the Jewish populace wasn't allowed into guilds, so they couldn't become craftsmen, at least not in the towns and cities that developed during the time. So what did they do? They became traders and bankers. And so they've been to this day. You don't need a degree in history to understand how it all developed.

They weren't allowed into guilds because they weren't trustworthy (108 expulsions from countries so far, 109 if you count that community down in Guatemala recently) and they also were big believers of usury, of debt and interest, something that used to be illegal for Christians and even Muslims to do. You can find a myriad of videos explaining why debt-based money is always doomed to fail, and acts as a money funnel, but with the funnel leading only up. (Oy vey, Occupy was anti-semitic all along!) And do pardon me for being so brash, but that's a false assumption that without jews, we wouldnt have movies are movie studios. There were scores of them, and still are. To say that we need jews to make our movies is an insult to the ingenuity and creativity of Americans. If Indians can get by, if East Asians can get by, so can we.

And you're very right, you don't need a history degree to see all of this. It's all out in the open for all to notice and verify, but mention this to someone on the street. "Excuse me, ma'am. Did you know the six biggest media corporations are headed by jews?" You'd get called a Nazi for that. OH MAN IF I JUST OPENED UP MY MIND AND TOOK SOME DRUGS, I WOULD REALIZE HOW FOOLISH I'VE BEEN.

Nothing I hate more than entitled, lucky celebrities telling me that what I do and what I think is somehow "unenlightened", I seriously hope no one in this thread takes this retard seriously.

Agreed. The philosophy commentary track on the Blu-rays is pretty good although unfortunately a lot of the meat in the sequels doesn't get discussed despite it holding perhaps the most philosophically and religiously dense material.
