I was thinking the same, then I read the sticky again (it's been a while) and then I thought maybe it was deleted because there weren't enough gifs/webms posted by the OP. Board rules say you have to post at least 3 when starting a new thread and if I remember correctly OP only had "Pale Blue Dot" - nothing else.

I like Carl Sagan's Cosmos, Demon Haunted World, and Pale Blue Dot (? -- the one where he begins by recalling the times where humans were just looking at the stars at night and then imagines the future of the human race, space exploration, the economy of mining asteroids, these kind of things)

However the beginning of Contact is pretty SJW tier :

Sadly, I have to agree that future humans will hardly care or even know about Earth. As much as I love Carl's optimism, I doubt humans are going to become good people or even value the past just because we reach the other planets or stars.

How many people living today all over the Earth think or care about the nameless north african plains where we evolved? Its a passing thought in your education, and you probably never spend any much time or care on it ever again. It just not relevant in your daily life.

Where we came from is already a footnote in history.

You're probably right, but it's abit different; We don't have any historical records of that time and place, no knowledge of their culture, and nothing to relate to. At best, we can hypothesize animalistic feelings and simple social hierarchies which could resemble our own experience in this world.

Future off-world descendants of human kind will probably have access to huge amounts of text and imagery. Notes on how we experienced the world, and what we thought of it. Our dreams and expectations for the future.
