During school some pretty shit stuff happened to me, and I almost committed suicide until a bunch of kids from school just started hanging out with me. Even then it still seemed like the easiest option but that friendship was probably what saved my life.

I always find the whole 'are you ok' thing pretty cringeworthy because I would have never answered truthfully, and I don't think many depressed people would. I think the best way to help someone if they do appear to be depressed is just be the best friend you can be. I don't think you should confront them about it unless something fatal is about to happen, just make sure they know that they make you happy.

Suicide isn't selfishness if there's no one there to care for you, and its even better if the only people who care for you are people you hate.
