There is room for actual interesting research. I'd love to know what the real numbers behind banning people with misdemeanor (as opposed to felony level) crimes of domestic violence from buying guns has on the murder rate of women. But getting the government involved takes any potential for real research, destroys it, and leaves behind a politicized mess that pretends its completely neutral. Banning that from happening is not because /k/ doesn't believe their own arguments.

Depends on what you mean by "work". Because if we look at the United Kingdom when the went through their period of heavy gun control. When it was all said and done with, yes they had a significant drop in firearm related homicides after the fact. This of course could be viewed as a victory, but what you find is that overall violent and homicide crime rates remained unchanged, meaning that people didn't kill each other any less....They just killed each other in a different way.


So if you're for banning and removing the arbitrary means in which people murder each other, then yeah I guess it works. However if you're actually trying to save lives, no it doesn't.
