To add on to what other anons said, it was never completed before Disney or Dali died. It was mostly a ton of storyboards and one single segment of complete animation sitting in storage for decades before someone dusted it off and asked the Spanish branch if they wanted to finish it. They very much said yes.

The Webm with the turtles was that animated segment that was complete, and I am pretty sure Dali himself either did that animation or contributed a good amount to it. So it's the only scene that is actually painted by Dali. The rest was conceptualized through storyboards by him then animated almost ten years ago. It's still really good, but it explains some of the sudden style shift in the paint work.

This movie came out around when I was born and it still looks good in today's standards.
>>
>>1374839
Disney and Dali collaborated?
>>
>>1430414
Yes.

>Destino was storyboarded by Disney studio artist John Hench and artist Salvador Dalí for eight months in late 1945 and 1946; however production ceased not long after. The Walt Disney Company, then Walt Disney Studios, was plagued by financial woes in the World War II era. Hench compiled a short animation test of about 17 seconds in the hopes of rekindling Disney's interest in the project, but the production was no longer deemed financially viable and put on indefinite hiatus.

>In 1999, Walt Disney's nephew Roy E. Disney, while working on Fantasia 2000, unearthed the dormant project and decided to bring it back to life. Walt Disney Studios Paris, the company's small Parisian production department, was brought on board to complete the project. The short was produced by Baker Bloodworth and directed by French animator Dominique Monféry in his first directorial role. A team of approximately 25 animators deciphered Dalí and Hench's cryptic storyboards (with a little help from the journals of Dalí's wife Gala Dalí and guidance from Hench himself), and finished Destino's production. The end result is mostly traditional animation, including Hench's original footage, but it also contains some computer animation.

Yeah, because every single German was the enemy, right? Even the civilians we bombed? But that's not justified when Germany did it? Or can we just agree that blanketly referring to a nation, religion, ethnicity, race or anyone as the enemy and dehumanizing them beyond reason is just an effect of war and that it doesn't make the people doing the dehumanizing or the dehumanized not people?

Not him, but if we don't dehumanize the enemy then we won't be able to defeat them. For example, seeing refugee kids starving in the cold makes it a little harder to hate Muslims and we don't need that. It's sad, but sweeping generalizations is the only way.

I take exception to that. Furries and homosexuals are not mutually exclusive.

>>
>>1518153
The Bimbettes (that's actually what they're called) along with every other unmarried woman in town were all but throwing themselves at him. Belle on the other hand, is implied to be the only woman who wasn't.

Gaston, if he were a modern-day character, would be one of those college douchebag fratbros. His entire psyche is founded on him proving his masculinity. Therefore, just picking one of the random sluts who want him isn't good enough for him because they're no challenge. He pursues Belle not because he's interested in her or likes her or even cares about her; he pursues Belle because wooing her is the only challenge he's ever had when it comes to women.

>This movie came out around when I was born and it still looks good in today's standards.

There is this cluster between '89 and '95 when a load of incredible Disney musicals came out (Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Pocahontas, Toy Story). It wasn't uncommon for these movies to have 2+ songs on the Billboard Top 20 at the same time. They had some amazing people on staff during those years. They've never seen that much success since.

I'm sure some of us older people remember when Lion King did THREE runs at the theaters. They just kept bringing it back over 95-96. Again, I've never heard of any movie other movie doing that since then.

It's worth noting that Newsies was also in that time frame. Another amazing musical, just live and not animated.

It's a pretty solid piece of animation but I would agree that it's not the best i've ever seen.

My personal favorite Disney movie:

Victory Through Air Power.

Was made specifically for the audience of Sir Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt expounding upon the importance of long-range strategic air superiority as the primary means to win WWII. (Spoiler: long-range strategic air superiority was the means to win WWII)

Just have some fuckhuge gifs from google atm, will have to find a proper file to make webms from.

I've got a copy I've watched maybe three times. I can't keep from crying. Disney has made some amazing stories over the years but this one never fails to hit me in the feels.

It looks like a lot of webms didn't survive the crash.
