Dark Arisen is a good addition but some of the features, like infinite fast travel, go counter to what the original had in mind.
You can marathon the game but it's best done in small periodic bursts of adventures across beautiful environments.

That start is the most punishing part of the game. Don't be afraid to cheese past difficult enemies or leave harder quests for later, especially if you're new or on hard difficulty.

The two major issues are the bandits at the top of the pass with the boulder and the Saurians in the bottom of the well.
Do as much damage as you can but remember to stay mobile against heavy enemies. Find weak spots. Strategies actually help quite a lot if you can pull them off.

Now if they could make a game where it has a 1:1 virtual replica of the real-world console, and it tracks and virtually displays your hands instead of two VR controllers so I can see exactly what I'm going to press, mixed with a VR headset I would buy it in a heartbeat regardless of price. Moreso luck than skill, considering the enemies use hitscan weapons (which is important for a cover shooter). Coming back from the brink from being pinned already happens all the time (if the player is skilled), just with the regenerating health. Having to try and roll through multiple surrounding enemies' hitscan gunfire with 1% health as you dash for a health pickup is suicide, not skill. They would have to either significantly dumb-down the AI or put respawning health pickups behind every piece of cover (which promotes camping one cover-spot all game and playing whack a mole) to make it fair for the player if not using regenerating health.

Hell, the player would have died in that original webm ( >>1348896 ) if he were any slower at killing the two enemies who originally hurt him, as that last enemy (who was melee'd) would have finished him off with just a small burst had he still been fighting the two by the time he dropped. That's why movement and killing quickly is so important.

This "regenerating health games can't possibly offer any challenge" meme needs to end. Whether regen is appropriate is all about the game's pacing and how quickly you die. In Metal Slug, you die in one hit and you get limited extra lives; in Uncharted on crushing, you die in like 6-7 rapidfire bullets and have to restart the fight you're in from the beginning. Both games you can go from perfectly fine to dead in a moments notice, and both games have enemies throwing ridiculous amounts of bullets at you (dodging bullet hell by jumping and ducking in MS, dodging hitscan by blocking line-of-sight in UC4).
My point is that they are both simple and arcadey, yet there is nothing wrong with the health systems of either game.
