Ok, it goes like this.

Anakma create Dofus, an MMO. It became popular so they made Wakfu, a cartoon. Wakfu takes place hundreds of years after the Dofus MMO. Then they made a Wakfu MMO taking place during the same time period as the Wakfu cartoon. Then the made a Dofus series, taking place during the Dofus MMO about a retired adventurer telling stories of his past adventures. Then they made a 3 part Wakfu OVA series, with the main characters from Dofus playing important roles, (they're Demigods with 9 lives and a semi immortal guardian so they're still alive). Then they made a Dofus movie showing how that one character became a guardian. Then they annoucnced a third season of the Wakfu cartoon dealing with the events and revelations from the OVA's.

Simple, right?

Yeah, they don't really touch the Primordial Dofus at all.

Short version is, they're Dragon Eggs with just dragon souls in them that existed on the World of Twelve long before the Eliatropes ever came. Oghrest fell in love with a doll thing and collected the Primordial Dofus to impress her, because she wanted to use them to become human; but she didn't love him and his tears flooded the world, which is what killed Nox's family.

Also important to note that Oghrest' holding the Dofus was interfering with the ability of the Gods' to interact with the World of Twelve, with Iop being an exception because he chose to live among mortals and was thus reborn.
