The problem is Wakfu is a pretty obscure series and Dofus an even more obscure one buried under that. A shame because it is a really fun show that stands on its own really well.

I wish they would get a competent dub team. I know everyone is going to complain about dubs and I usually defend them, but the english we have for the series now is just unbearable. Some of the casting is even alright, but their directing and worse yet, the speed racer pacing they have to talk at thanks to the fast pace of the french language in general is just painful.

I suppose it depends on whether you think 10 minutes out of a week is worth spending catching up on developments.

I think it's a mixed bag. I love alot of character designs (especially Fusions), I think there's some decent writing, worldbuilding, and conflict, the backgrounds can be gorgeous, and the humor is decent enough to get a chuckle more often than not.

It's weighed against some bad/clumsy writing, some cringey dialogue, a few mediocre songs, and, admittedly, the feeling that at times there's an SJW *ahem*ing at some not-so-subtle implications.

I still think it weighs out well in the end and though I consider it a "guilty pleasure" it is worth a download and quick watch. And if the episode isn't that good than I just have it on background and do something else with moderate attention on it.

I think the Tumblr-ness is a bit overexagerrated. It works better than you'd think because it's not extreme. The characters are all flawed, even the "badass" Garnet has shit. The only real annoying Mary Sue is Rose, but she's dead so it's cool.
I don't know. There's a fuckton of filler and no concept of story for the first two seasons. Nothing gets answered and it is cringy. However, it grows on you.
If it seems interesting, watch a few episodes. They're short, so it's not a huge investment.

But as >>1295467 pointed out, there are some really SJW shitlines that you can easily pick out. It's not my favorite show, but I usually binge a few episodes every month or so, since they also can't fucking have a normal release schedule.

In Bismuth, they went a long way to showing Rose as more flawed with how she handled that situation. Also depending on how they do the whole Pink Diamond killing thing, it'll really characterize her a good deal outside of just stories from her loving husband. Though I have this sinking feeling they're gonna pull a "It was all a misunderstanding!" or worse yet, a "She conspired with Pink Diamond and Pink Diamond never really died!"

It makes the show harder for people to watch. You can't honestly tell me you don't see the benefits of decent dubs for normal people. When it's subbed, it becomes something you have to be really into and focus on, which is hard for a series like Wakfu where there's so many throw away episodes that while entertaining, get exhausting.

I can stand subtitles but even an ok dub is preferable to subtitles for most. Problem is we got just an awful dub, and when some people aren't even going to know it was originally french, it is damning to the public opinion of the show when they'll see this on Netflix, start up an episode, and be greeted with voice work circa 1998 videogame voice quality.

The fucking FEELS in this movie! Perfect fucking climax. I wish we still got movies like this. They're not just toys, they're fucking living breathing characters and you root for them. This is pretty reflective of my experience. After watching a well written episode, you're inclined to say 'hey, all the pandering is just a side effect of some writers choices and everything works well.'

But those well written episodes are becoming much more rare after season 1. And the pandering seems to be intensifying, which is worrying.

If you're concerned with it being a waste of time, just wait till the series concludes itself in a year or two, then if its still being mentioned, revisit it.

Steven Universe does have a lot of references, but I feel like the show is actually an example of how to do references well. Because it doesn't really spend time setting those references up or really dwell on or call them out.
Like in Rose's Room and The Test you've got what are obviously references to video game glitches, but they're just a part of the action in the episode. At no point does Steven say something like, "Oh no, the water textures aren't loading right," or "Hey, watch me clip through the ceiling and out of the level." It's left up to the viewer to recognize that.

There's no figurative elbowing the audience in the ribs and saying "Eh, see what I did there," or grinning at the audience and saying "It's pretty obscure, you probably haven't heard of it." The references are generally just there and if you catch them then that's something for you, and if you don't then they still fit within the context of the episode.

It's cozy. It has tumblr shit in it, but it's geared towards tumblr people. If you can get past the fact that you don't agree with the creators politics and a couple of the shows core themes then you'll enjoy good music, art, animation, and overall story. I'm a seasoned /pol/lack and I can put my politics aside for a half hour and enjoy it.
