you could download VSDC video editor. I imagine that the animations you would want would have to be seperately drawn. if the animations were small then I would imagine that it wouldn't be too difficult.

I've never really made one before either, so I think the animations would essencially be loop, or if it was really simple then just copy the loop a few times while the audio plays so it isn't just a black screen.

Hey, ive only made a couple, and i just started so im not that good either.

I use GIMP to add a gondola into an image i want (making several as separate image frames for animation), then use Lightworks (a free video editing software) to put the images in, adjust the timing for it, and then add the music that ive cut to size using Audacity (a free sound editing software)
I then export it as an .mp4 from lightworks and upload it to a .webm converter to get the final product.

Regarding what anons said above, I honestly think Gondola is primarily a guy thing, it's just a feeling of mine but even though people say women are the emotional gender I still feel like most of them can't feel as deep as most guys do, I do feel like there are exceptions though, nothing is black and white. That's where Gondola kicks in, it is the embodiment of a single emotion captured in a moment which lasts forever, girls might have similar feelings to the ones we try to convey through gondolas but they are fleeting, short-lived in a way, expressed through drawings and photos of objects or obscure figures meant mainly to be seen by others in order to gain the feeling depicted in the said drawing/photo. Feelings depicted in Gondola are mainly nostalgic and/or melancholic. Gondola is there so that we may attach ourselves to it and experience the emotion. Girls just don't linger the way guys do, they rarely wonder the way guys do... I am sorry if what I have said offends anyone but it is just the way I feel about the world.

I'm the anon that wrote the essay you replied to above. In all honesty I would love to to feel like I'm wrong about the things I said and I would love to have a feeling that most girls are capable of willfully experiencing emotions depicted in a Gondola and that they just wonder from time to time thinking of the abstract and not the material... but I don't, and I've said it above, it's just a feeling of mine that I'm not very fond of. Holy shit. What I find cool about gondolas is the way they unlock certain feelings or memories - not concrete ones but more like the memory of being in a certain state of mind - that you had long ago that were sort of trapped in your brain. I'm not sure if feelings or memories is even the best word. It's like you were passionate about some obscure sub-sub-subgenre of cartoon or video game or something when you were young, one that nobody believes you that it existed, so you stop believing too, and it gets lost, and you lose a part of yourself - and then the gondola dredges this state of mind from deep within your synapses, and that part of you is restored.

The gondola I replied to just did that for me, but of course it's not just limited to them. What I find interesting about this is that I now wonder if there are parts of me that I still need to 'unlock'. I have this idea that there is something else, lodged in my brain, something from my early childhood, that I loved. I occasionally feel a glimpse of it - things like Moonsong from Cave Story, or certain ambient sounds in electronic or prog music hint at it. I don't know if it was a book or TV show, but it was something about being in touch with space, being alone but yearning to to be part of something bigger out there. Maybe I'm just imagining it though.

Unfornately a majority of the current crop are by-the-numbers 'muh deep transcendance' google image + gondola drawn in haphazardly with no effort or expression in them. The crop of 'I hope I get reposted/someone likes my obscure music choice/how do i get in on this meme' rather than making something fun, evocative, or creative regardless of innate skill has/is killed this meme. It's on its natural way out now, which is a blessing for it's own sake.
