>>1255009
I guess it would be the closest, there isn't really a hard equivalent.
It's false equivalency with a lot of things in Japan, not many things really compare that easily.
Ex. Samurai and the Shogunate don't have an American equivalent because America never had a "ruling class" like Europe did with Knights and Bluebloods. The closest thing you COULD equate it to would be patriotism and "Japan-ness" I suppose so the enlightenment period-style militia men would maybe be the closest, but you're comparing an apple to an orange. Japan as a nation (kind of) is over 2000 years old, modern America is only 240. If you want to stretch it you could put Knights in the same position but the idea would be completely detached from white Americans because we have no concept of Homogeneity, quite the opposite.

It looks weird because the joke requires knowing who all these people are and the fact they're dressed in odd ways. Japanese humour is like British, very much into farce and nonsense.

>>1255881
Holy fuck this woman is so goddamn attractive. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck i want a japanese girl. But they don't like white dudes.
I was having a bad night, this thread saved me. Thank you.
Unfortunately for Aeon, it seems that Satomi Ishihara isn't quite good enough to pull off a native speaker role. In the recently-released Shin Godzilla, she plays a Japanese-American whose English is apparently the weakest part of the film according to reviewers.
>Satomi Ishihara as Kayoko Ann Patterson. Ishihara plays the Special Envoy for the President of the United States. She became excited after accepting the role but stressed that her character features "English-heavy dialogue", stating, "Sometimes it's so frustrating, I just want to cry."
>Jay Hawkinson from Bloody Disgusting called the film a "very good Godzilla movie that teeters on greatness," however, he felt the film's drama "didn't always work" and some of the English delivery felt "canned and often corny", particularly Satomi Ishihara's character who he thought was "convincing" at times but a "hard sell in her role",
And various lines from reviewers:
>The picture's one flaw is the unforgivably stylised Patterson character,
>Still, the badly miscast Ishihara and her shaky English are not meant for export.
>Overall, the performances are good. There is one character who they, for whatever reason, decided to make speak English in odd an inappropriate times.
>The other problem with this movie is the Japanese-American woman played by Satomi Ishihara. Why did they choose an actress that talk that bad English ? She's supposed to be bilingual but most of the time she talk I didn't even knew she was speaking English!
>To mention some downside, one turnoff was Satomi Ishihara, who was supposed to be acting an American, but wasn't trained enough to speak like one. She did a pretty good job at mocking short phrases, but long phrases were disastrous.
On the other hand, these are all English reviews. Maybe in Japan it came across more as, "Wow. Very English. Such American."
>>1269723
It did, they honestly can't tell the difference. She's absolutely atrocious in anything, I can't stand the cunt.
It's not like anyone on set could tell if she was fucking up her lines anyway, so the shot choices might as well have been random.
The entire Japanese entertainment industry is based on looks, in any other country these girls would be models, but because there's such a shortage of attractive women who can act, they hire mainly hot ones who can't.
>>1254630
Found a couple more in the Nissan / Journey to the West series
>>1269748
>>1269649
They don't like not being able to communicate. Since they don't know English, you just gotta learn flawlessly fluent Japanese and you raise your chances a few percent.
>>1262643
I love how she gained a monobrow somehow
>>1269969
They all did, the commercial is about how they notice the nigger's monobrow, which reminds the mother of the excellent reception offered by softbank. The eyebrows are "connected" just like how phone calls are now more easily connected.
It's all pretty easy to follow, like when the perfectly normal maid played by Tommy threatens the father, who is played by a dog, for almost revealing that he's an alien.
