My best friend went through a phase like this. His dad and I were always good friends, always welcoming me over and treating us like absolute legends. He always had the sincerity in him. While at a party my mate decided he will be back with some pizza, because he was always one step ahead than everyone else. He didn't come back.

3kms up the road and there was a crash, car without headlights on went straight into his car coming around a corner. Dad was begging everything to be done. Dies 5 hours later in hospital. Since we both stayed there for the full 5 hours he was in there for, we knew this would be a moment in life that would impact us both, regardless the circumstances. When news is told he hugs the fuck out of me crying. I do the same back.

2 years since, he isn't mentally fucked or anything, since we don't bring it up. But I'm sure to see him at least once every month and sit back with him drinking a beer. Although he is 20 years older than me, and I now live my own life from my own family, this guy can't live with someone else by his side.
