What this guy said. There's also the argument that initially getting paid for this kind of thing would be great, but as it becomes work the fun is slowly taken out of it. Now you've not only got a job that does fulfill you, but you've also lost a major hobby.

I really feel bad for a lot of streamers in the future. In the same way that YT was a cash cow in 2010-2012 and is now very hard to make a living off alone, streaming will see the same thing happen. Then, you've got a whole bunch of people who likely don't have skills and have just spent 5+ years not developing trying to find new income sources.

So, they find the next thing like YTers did with Twitch. Then the next thing. Then the next. My guess is she may have realized this and because her and her fiance are both in the industry knows that without making very big (and hard) changes, this is life from now on.

Moving from one unfulfilling job to the next, trying to chase the money. This time it isn't retail; it's selling yourself and your privacy online.
