We should improve our gondolas. The early gondolas were all quality but there is a trend now of slapping a badly drawn gondola on a generic background then uploading it with weird non 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios or weird ant resolutions. It ends up ruining the immersion you get from quality gondolas. Also static images is fine if the gondola is well drawn but some small animations is prefered and greatly appreciated. Let's up the standards a little and this OC won't get spoiled or go mainstream too soon.

Remember if it's easy and lazy normies will be all over it. I bet some autist then will proceed to create a "gondola generator" which will slap a stock gondola on any image of your choice and automatically upload it to social media.

Gondola threads should be a sanctuary not a meme generator.

i've been guilty of this, the problem arises when you feel a particular atmosphere you want to convey as fast as possible so you end up with what he's mentioning. i think its better probably to use the initial gondola as sketch to build on despite how tempting it can be to post it when its reletively simple.

Make sure you are getting the angle and depth right. It won't look like a reflection if it looks like it's sitting on the surface of the eye, but if it looks like it's just below the surface (done with placement and angles) you can make it look better.

I think some of the nostalgia comes from the colours and pixel style, particularly in >>1085714 with the dark, rich green grass and blue night sky, which evoke 90s adventure PC games. This is basically the effect a good gondola has on me. Seeing a gondola in a scene I recognize triggers a shitton of memories of single instants. History/sci-fi gondolas work too though; introspection in travel is timeless, and if you've imagined the situation it can be just as powerful. Gondolas portray specific experiences we recognize and realize we value, regardless of if we noticed we appreciated them at the time
