I definitely understand what you mean. There are some sequences in that film that have so much visual information being thrown at you, that it can almost be exhausting.

The difference for me is that Thief and the Cobbler isn't just really well animated, but the animation has a lot of personality behind it as well. Like, it isn't just cold & calculated technique; there's some legitimate uniqueness to it that makes it intriguing to watch.

Don't know if that makes any sense and it's definitely a personal preference thing, but the sometimes overstimulating visuals don't bug me as much for this reason.

Brother, I don't give two shits about RvB, and I really don't consider AH and RWBY to be connected. I mean, I know they are, but I consider them very different productions, just as The Simpsons is a separate production from X-Men, but produced by the same studio (IIRC).

And with all that in mind, I'm interested in RWBY because, somehow, it still keeps me guessing. I won't deny that the animation is shit more often than not, but I love the action scenes and I love the character development.

That's why I love Eureka Seven, that's part of what I love about One Punch Man, and that's why I love RWBY - Character Development. I like seeing characters change in subtle ways, and that's the main thing that draws me in about RWBY.

Add in some reasonably good music, occasionally excellent animation, a few well-placed and well-paced epic moments, and you've got me hooked.

If it ain't your thing, that's fine by me - you don't have to love it. You don't even have to like it. You don't have to do a damn thing, brother. But I like it in spite of its flaws, and it has nothing to do with it being made by Rooster Teeth.

Though I think if Monty were still alive, the most recent season would've been better.
