Oh man, they had it PERFECT back then. The amazing way it just builds anticipation of the fun to be had. I can still see myself sitting cross legged, staring up at the TV, holding the controller, staring and waiting for Spyro. That sound was just like a tease, saying "in just a few moments, your life will be pure joy." Or I'm up at 6 am, turning the PS on and looking over at my friend to make sure he doesn't wake up. I'd spent almost the whole night trying to beat Bloody Roar, but finally crashed out for only a couple hours. Now I'm up again, and as that perfect PS intro fades out, I can feel the excitement rising up inside my body. I don't think I ever once turned my PS on and heard that sound and felt bored. It was always exciting.

Now I turn my PS4 on and it just appears, no soul, just a picture of my avatar and then on to a barrage of game advertisements and color. Games felt so much more innocent back then. Much simpler. Like they were actually made to be fun rather than life consuming.
