i3 comes with a good bar but configging is a bit slow

herbstluft included bar is garbage, but whenever you want to try something new you can just put it in the terminal. Any changes you make to your settings in the terminal are saved, but can be rolled back to your actual config as soon as you want, and if you like them you can just copy then to your config, because it's a bash script.

i3 is def more complete, but herbstluft is very good for trying new things, if you like a new color scheme for evey wallpaper, for example.

Depends what you're looking for. I've been through most distributions and finally settled down to Fedora. The only downsides are RedHat (NSA, right?), systemd and the fact you need to upgrade once a year.

Use a shell replacement and terminal emulator. In the photo I had cygwin to emulate ncmpcpp and weechat - then you simply apply terminal colors and modify the code to your liking so that you get an layout you like.

I'm not sure where to find new icons or fonts at. For the font I mostly just dug through my already installed ones and then fucked with the DPI. I don't know what font is considered 'good' to the Linux people.

But I'm glad I'm meeting my goal of having a nice easy on the eye color scheme.

I plan on using Stylish and writing a similar theme for all my top visited sites so I Can have a cohesive experience all across the board.

Linux is fun and flexible, but also much higher maintenance than other operating systems. I think you have to be a little masochistic to truly enjoy linux. Get used to staying up all night trying to fix some sparsely documented bug, and learn to hate StackOverflow with a passion. Though, after clawing your way through unintelligible manpages and spending hours on end just trying to figure out how to exit vim, you end up with a system that is yours, and you made it. There's some level of joy that can only be achieved through experiences like this.

My advice is to buy an old laptop, wipe windows off and throw on a stupidly lightweight linux distro and try to claw your way up to something usable. This is what I did and I loved every monotonously painful moment of it.
