I agree with you on all your points except this one. I think you're romanticizing the period too much. This is the point in time where domestic abuse was normal, women were unable to be financially independent and therefore couldn't leave a bad situation, homosexuality was considered a disorder and people were actually lynched in the street while churches, homes and schools were fire-bombed. How was any of this strong and healthy? That's stuff that happens in 3rd world countries.

America was great relative to other countries in the world in the 60's. Why? Because they were all rubble. America's geographical location saved it from getting raped by everyone else, as did its late entry into the war. Europe was destroyed, on both Allied and Axis sides. As was Japan and China. Russia was poor as shit after the war as well.

America didn't do a lot of fighting and as a result they didn't lose a lot of men. Their military didn't shrink like everyone elses.

Also, you have to be retarded if you think that families were healthy back then. Have you even talked to old people? How are you this braindead? Housewives were the most unhappy during that time. Husbands looked for any excuse to cheat. Families were actually very weak compared to today.

American was REALLY great relative to other countires in the 60's, and great relative to what it is now in terms of standard of living for, well, white males.
