It's from a poem by Dylan Thomas. His father was dying and this was urging him to stay alive.
>Do not go gentle
Fight
>Into that good night
Death
>Rage, rage
Fight
>Against the dying of the light
Death

My children won't be. If our children's generation is worse off than we are, then our society is in decline. It's our responsibility to change that.

Nice one.
Does anyone happen to have an image with a quote matching this description It has passed through many of these threads before, and I'll know it if I see it, but it came to mind the other night and after tearing through my collection I realized I didn't have it
Roughly "Things, they were not ok....(short body filler) But now we can begin again"

Turn someone in need away.
For example. You could bring them
out of the street absolutely
helping to stop someone being
abused. It's cold and lonely out there.
Young people need a helping hand.
A safe, secure place would help.
But you could still make a difference.
???????

I only knew this quote from DMX
am i black mom
>>6933229
The only philosopher I can disagree with on nearly anything they have said. It should be
>To survive is to Suffer. To Live is to find meaning in that Suffering.
Everyone Dies and anyone who can't Survive, Dies, but not everyone alive Lives.
>>6940965
Everything that has life, is living. Survival in itself requires something living, survival also requires the desire to continue living.
>>6934785
Overpopulation is just as much of an issue, especially if you live and raise kids with a reliance of luxury.
>>6941050
Survival does not require a desire to live. Suicidal patients, that have survived a failed suicide attempt, apparently have not survived a failed suicide attempt. How did you even come to such nonsense?
>>6941278
Surviving a fatal incident, self-inflicted or not, isn't the same as survival in the sense of the earlier quote. For example, if you're deserted, you will make an attempt to survive. So a scenario where you survived something out of your control (which isn't always the case with suicide attempts, a decent portion of them just haven't fully committed), isn't the same thing. Choosing to survive.
The concept that being alive =/= living is absurd, because what you and I consider living may not be the case for many others. You can't claim somebody isn't living because you don't think their life is ideal, because they may have found purpose and meaning in life that you don't have. So you can't deny they're living. However, they're undeniably surviving. The same can't be said for those without their own purpose or meaning, those that make attempts to end their own life. Although at this point it could easily become a discussion on abstract meanings.

Would people please stop sharing this edgy BS? Gagarin never said that.

I thought I should contribute instead of just plain shitposting. My bad that that was the first one I came across, I better delete it from my collection just to satisfy you and make you feel all warm and snugly inside. Do you like... know, if Poe said this? If he didn't should I delete it as well? I might as well to save you your time. What a nice and kind thing I have done for you, that which you should be grateful for. I expect a prompt Thank You.

I do have to point out that you being very literal in your definitions concerning philosophy. I think it should be argued in the abstract so we can apply it to any and all, as best we can.
My original qualm with Nietzsche is that he uses intentionally confusing language or makes blatantly unclear statements, this quote being an example of both. It's implied that being alive is suffering and that surviving is a goal or aspiration that we want, and that we can't survive without a purpose or meaning that we attribute to our suffering.
I do concede that you do need a will for survival. I should have focused on the word, Survive, instead where my previous hypothetical still stands correct in the context of the quote. Furthermore, you can live your entire life, survive, without a purpose. It doesn't happen very often, granted, but it does happen where an individual reaches the end and realizes it's over and there was no purpose to it whatsoever. They have regrets and no purpose, yet they survived. That is different from survival and I falsely equated the two.
Now I chose the words Alive and Live because people do differentiate between being not dead and the verb. They also commonly associate 'Living it up' or 'Live the life' with being alive with meaning and happiness. They are different words with different meanings that relate but they aren't interchangeable and they don't equal each other.
