The way the wallpapers work is they have a base file, an video, gif, image, whatever, and a json file that modifies the file to be playable, so the shit doesnt compress that much

As for resource intensity, it obviously depends on the wallpapers you choose to use. Some can have serious impact on your cpu but having them pause while a fullscreen application is open will make them drop usage to <1%
