Your first 2 years are going to suck. Boot camp will be your best 3 months in the Corps, and even that is going to be gay by now with all the incidents. SOI will be the worst 2-3 months of your life, then you hit the fleet and your life is still shitty until you're not a boot any more, at which point it's only slightly less shitty and all motivation you've ever had will be dead and you'll be counting down the days til you EAS.

Lol. The Corps is so different than you could ever imagine, you have no idea what you're talking about. Best of luck. If you get into CAAT, you'll at least enjoy your actual job and being in the field more, however actually doing the job you signed up for is less than 1-2% of your life. Most of your time will be spent attending briefs about suicide prevention, violence prevention, alcoholism awareness, about how not to get in trouble, about nothing, etc etc etc. You'll spend a lot of time trying to get a site called Marine Net to work, which seems like it was made in the 90's and only barely works on internet explorer, so that you can do mandatory annual training about above said subjects, you'll spend a lot of time printing out useless papers from said site about nothing. Lots of time showing up to things pointlessly early so you can wait for about an hour for your higher ups to show up, to stand in formation for about half hour, to then be told nothing by said higher ups, then leaving, and having to rush back for another pointless formation. You'll wait around every Friday until about 1630 for another, even larger formation, to get the same safety brief from 3 different people in your chain of command before you can finally get cut for the weekend. You'll more than likely have some insane libo policy that will make you feel like less than a child. You'll spend more time standing by than you will actually doing things, and until you're an NCO, the things you'll be doing will be supervised by someone who can barely read. This is only a fraction of the useless insanity that occurs, I'm not even going to try to scratch the surface of all the useless bureaucracy and broken systems in place.

But hey, what would I know. Go ahead and email this to yourself though and reread it in a year. You'll be blown away at how much it will hit home after some time in the fleet. Best of luck though, not trying to talk you out of it. It's not all bad, just 99%.

Don't get me wrong the coffee we got from those guys every once in a while was a godsend, however, lets not put lipstick on a pig and call it shirley. Every recruit has these these grandiose notions of the military (speaking from the US here) from movies and the like. They get this idea in there head that they are Vietnam draftees and are signing there "death warrants". Hence why I told OP to stop being so dramatic. He aint no SF and he has many years of bullshit to go through if he even wants to be. Point is he probably signed up to some admin MOS and tells everyone that he is going off to fight a war.

This is probably a symptom of a greater sickness being that there is this mass assumption among the US civilian populous that all personnel in the military are involved in combat somehow which, again, is probably due to TV. Relative to the size and reach of the US military there are very few individuals who hold a combat job and even fewer who will ever see combat.

Currently campguard at mct. Its nice being a pog that isnt even in mos school yet. Mct sucks. Bootcamp sucks but you get use to it. After all the suck you appreciate the suck. And then you enjoy the little good things and say. "The marine corps is pretty tight"

on campguard you have to do working parties. Some suck, most are chill. You cant use your phone till 1630. If you dont fuck up you get libo after evening chow. Weekends are blue libo which is the best thing about this place. And the duty ncos are mostly combat instructors that are out of "drill instructor" mode. So its much less stress.

0300 is the worst mos to be a junior marine as i was told. Once you hit nco its a little better. My field does allow lat moves. Good luck with MOTOR TUHHH.
