i want to share with you a minimal image/webm/gif viewer i made.

made in C#, it doubles as a screensaver app.

lightweight, starts up fast, has some decent features, zoom scrolling, typical image viewer stuff.

i'll keep bumping with some wallpapers and answer questions or implement a needed feature.

you can download installer/zip here: http://loopscicle.com/

I'll give you credit for making something, and then providing it free. Assuming you're not some sort of hackware, of course.

Couple quick thoughts:

Your main landing page should be a navigation page to different things you are trying to say to the world. Using the entire front page as a hot mess of a shitbucket for everything in mostly random order is very Geocities. And, not in a good way.

Your screensaver feature isn't mentioned on your front page. It might be interesting to me, but I see no info on it at all. Would like to see a reasonably detailed overview of how it works & what settings are available.

Leading to: I'm not excited about an application that does everything you're "selling." Most of the features I already have in other software that I've spent years evaluating, selecting and investing my time in learning to use very, very well.

The "everything you need" should be clickable to a more detailed explanation of each feature. Right now it just looks like someone is hyperventilating on marketing buzzwords they think will draw in the short-attention span demographic. And, honestly, not an entirely Bad Thing since there's such a vast demographic like that. But someone like me does not install fuckall of anything if I can't read up on what it does first. I'm not into installing mysterious mystery software with mystery features that mysteriously Do Something. Somehow.

What I want: a screen saver like advertised in OP. One that can rotate backgrounds (while actively working and/or screen saver when I walk away) from a directory. Ideally, it will handle multi-monitor, so it can handle one portrait mode plus one landscape mode at different resolutions, and change each at different rates (that user can define) from different directories. Encrypted workstation lock could be interesting, but not terribly important.

That screen saver should not really do anything else. Best if it's simple stand alone.

Just for thinking about.

Thanks for the response. I'll consider changes that can be made to the main landing page that you've suggested. I have another landing page that might be more of what you're looking for: http://sooperdoopertools.com and click the Loopscicle Viewer link.

Loopscicle Viewer has multi-monitor support with dual-image display, rotations, pulling images directly from directories. A lot of quick easy features to grab an image, auto-rotate, auto-scale, auto-fit, A screen-lock encryption would be a nice feature to add.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond.

you should consider rewriting your program in C, making it run on X11 and posting the code on github under the GPL licence
also drop C# and stop being a slave to jewish companies and helping them enslave others
join the free world, you can start by formating your ntfs partitions and installing a free operating system (such as GNU/Linux)
educate yourself on free software https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag1AKIl_2GM
and come and visit >>>/g/fglt if you have any GNU/Linux related questions

>>6839984
use feh, it's minimal, great for running from the command line, it has a thumbnail mode (for people who don't use the silly graphical file managers) and can be used as a wallpaper setter https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/feh
if you can't into feh, pqiv is quite nice and easy to configure https://github.com/phillipberndt/pqiv
here's my ~/.pqivrc, it should make pqiv work as you would expect from an image viewer
# ~/.pqivrc

sort=1
hide-info-box=1
enforce-window-aspect-ratio=1
max-depth=0

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Hey, thanks for responding and I get where you're coming from. As someone who writes and releases (good, non-malware) software, it's hard to get others to trust your code.

So. My code is signed by VeriSign. I have websites for my software. I have forums and tutorials. I'm here to answer questions and take responsibility for it.

C#. C#. C#. How I love C#. If you're a developer who has never written any, boy are you missing out. C# is the most pleasing, enjoyable syntax, environment, compiler, and output of software I've ever had the pleasure of typing and mousing on. Yes, it sucks it's Microsoft only. But there's hope. The entire language is open and there will be a time when it runs on almost any platform.

feh sounds cool. I've never used it nor pqiv, but I also not the biggest fan of command-line everything. I love my mouse and double-clicking. I will look into them though to see what features and how they are doing image-viewing.
>>
>>6840200

it's very lightweight. executable is barely a meg. starts-up practically before you get that second-click in.

webm: currently supports VP8 w/o audio. implementing VP9 with audio but have run into some problems building the latest libraries from libvpx.

looking forward to your feedback. thanks for taking the time.

I get it that you're probably (mostly) trolling Kewle memes and all. You could make the point somewhat more politely, maybe even be funny, and maybe even be taken seriously.

Just something you might consider.
>>
>>6840280

Thanks for making the effort. I disagree with your opinion of C#, but that's your call to make. At this point, anything that supports the microsoft way is cancer and should be avoided & resisted. My opinion, and no obligation on you to agree.

I'm looking for applications & utilities to run on linux & BSD. After the clusterfuck horror show that microsoft has inflicted upon the world, it's my personal decision to avoid and migrate to a system that doesn't charge me rent to spy on me, take over my systems, and gratuitously waste every resource on my systems imaginable.

Windows is a deprecated operating system and needs to be killed.

Should you ever decide to release software that can be used in ecosystems other than the NSA botnet, I'll be happy to look into it and give it a shot if it checks out & provides useful features.

Also, this: >>6839678

The URL you provided as a landing page in the OP does need some work. Pretty confusing and disorganized page to land on for someone who is trying to get a handle just what you are offering.

This autism here: >>6840193

really is a cancer. The only valid point made was this:
>you should consider rewriting your program in
> CONSIDER

a more universal language that compiles across platforms other than microsoft. AND, once you consider it & make a decision, get on with your life and be happy with that decision. Don't let any Autismo tell you otherwise.

All that said, I wish you good luck, and here's a pape & a bump.

same dude nvm the watermark isnt nearly as bad as i thought it would be, good job mate
>>
>>6841481
same dude again the screenrecording is a pain in the ass when you try to record small stuff because the stupid pane that says "start recording" doesnt adjust to the size and just disappears so its really difficult to record anything relatively small
>>
>>6839561
Excellent, other than 4 small points

1. No way to run through images/webm/gifs in order they are present in their folder.

2. No way to remove gui data around image.

3. No "Don't advance unless I tell you" option in the viewer.

3. I would like an option to install the viewer only.
>>
>>6841492

hey thanks for checking out the viewer.

in the upper right corner of you click on alphabetical/random/date and cycle the next-image mode.

I will consider adding an option to turn all gui elements off.

yeah in full screen mode it cycles to the next image like a slideshow. if you're in window mode the images will not cycle. will consider adding non-cycle full screen mode for sure.

I'm in the process of making an installer just for the viewer, good call.
