How do you organize your wallpaper folders? I can't start downloading wallpapers without getting obsessed with the way they should be categorized. I just can't find a permanent way to categorize them without ending up with impossible-to-locate papes.
Also post your favorite pape while answering my question so Mods won't remove this thread.

Bumping this thread because interested

I keep a folder of wallpapers in use which is what is in the current rotation. Those are copies of the wallpapers which I have sorted in folders by categories. So for Skull Kid wallpapers it goes Video Games>Nintendo>Zelda>Skull Kid. The broad categories I have are Comics, Misc, MLP, Shows, Video Games, and Warhammer. I have over 20,000 papers spread across 1,244 folders. Current rotation is only 9,303 which I update and redo monthly to fit what I want.
>>6825396
>I have over 20,000 papers
How long have you been collectin? What's the size of your collection? Are they all HQ? Do you separate phone formats and PC formats?
I have a "Wallpaper" folder.
I have sub "Wallpaper" folders with specific names.
I name each wallpaper file in order, 1.jpg...2.jpg etc...
>>6825413
I have been collecting for 4ish years now. Just over 20GB in storage and 18 GB in use. They are mostly at least 1280x720. Don't really have any phone papers. I don't mind it if a paper doesn't perfectly fit my screens so I get more papers then I would if I stuck to my resolutions but I have one 720 and one 1080 so getting all the same wouldn't work anyway. I view it as a hobby so I don't mind allocating that much space and the time spent organizing them is relaxing. I also started keeping track of the number of papers in each broad category and number of folders to chart my collection. I record it every Saturday in a spreadsheet and first Saturday of the month I also chart it on various line graphs. It's a hobby
>>6825483
oops I have just under 30 GB in storage not 20GB
don't have any organization lol
>>6825350
Im a bit anal when it comes to OCD like storing, mine looks like this.
All models go into one, wallpapers in their own, Auto, architecture, tech I dont know how to show you the sub categories without having to go into each. Been collecting since 2008
>>6825466
In order to prevent DLing doubles I keep the original file names of pics downloaded, also use 2 software programs to seek out and delete doubles
Also in each folder I keep a max of 1000, I then create a second folder for the next 1000 etc etc etc etc
>>6826236
>233 GB of pictures
You are LITERALLY autistic. No doubt about it.
>>6826336
Takes one to know one. As previously mentioned by another gent, its a bit of a small hobby amongst all my other hobbies I have
>>6825350
I have all my wallpapers in one big folder without having changed any names. That makes it a pain to share as well as delete wallpapers i dont like. I got at least 2k papes, but some day i will have to organize it and rename all of them.
>>6826491
That's what I do whenever I try to collect papes, but I get too tense about it and just let it go.
I organize mine by season. whatever season it is, i have that folder on random shuffle. i also have a vacation folder and a work folder that operate in the same way at the appropriate times.
>>6825396
signs of addiction
>>6826989
Well then as far as addictions go it's an okay one to have.
I keep them in categories based on the main or the most relevant subject
I had lost my wallpapers from way back, hence the small collection
>>6825350
i just use one folder.
>>6825350
I have 1,200 wallpapers atm, and currently I see no need to have any more than one folder. They are simply organized by name. All my minimalist papers start with the word Minimalist, pixel art starts with the word Pixel, etc. If I want to search for something I simply type in the category name with my folder open and I will be brought to that category.
Got it like this. File names are just super random.
abstract
animals
entertainment
fantasy
ideas&messages
locations
machine&tech
military&war
nature
objects
people
science
silly
textures

I have some papes floating around in "Random" but beside that this is pretty everything.
I just have more or less 300 wallpapers and all is in 1 folder "Wallpapers".
One single wallpaper containing my rotation. I'm not interested in keeping papes I don't like/don't want to be on my desktop
>>6828231
Nice but renaming can be a hell if you download a batch at once.
>>6828294
>Using mac
Richfag detected.
I put them all into folders with broad categories likes 'illustrations', 'nature', 'fantasy'..etc
Someday I'll delete all the duplicates and import the collection into Picasa for tagging but I don't have as much time for wallpapers as I used to.
I uploaded my whole folder to mediafire back in 2012, you can get an idea of how I divide things up:

Cocked up the link as well. Not my day.

I use hydrus to organize my papes now so I can tag the fuck out of them but in the past I had just a generic wallpaper folder that I tossed everything into with reckless abandon.
Those were dark times
>>6828337
you're welcome
>>6830190
I hope this isn't some phishing scheme, bro. If you hack me just don't fomat my pc pls, amigo.
>>6830192
Could you update it? If possible, upload it to MEGA. Mediafire doesn't allow batch downloading.
>>6830289
Nope, you can still find the archived thread if you want some proof that its legit. Cringy as hell though.

>>6830311
Nah...too much time/effort. Trust me, you don't want 10gb of wallpapers you don't remember saving anyway. Just pick some stuff that interests you.
>>6828345
how is your folder structure more organised than my life
>>6826236
all looks good good categories but you should put the word archive on each one a couple more times
Backgrounds 1.0
1500+pics
Backgrounds 2.0
maybe 150 so far, took me almost 3 years to get bored of the photos in 1.0 so ive just started this folder. i set the wallpaper to shuffle and just mass add photos whenever i ffeel like i need more.
>>6828294
I would love to see your water drop photography folder.
>>6830409
Yeah I know its a bit much. The word Archive just fits right. I use Picasa to sort my pictures out. I need to zip them and upload to MEGA and share it with everyone
>>6825350
C:\Users\%blah_blah%\Downloads
>>6832609
That's how I do it. Doesn't fare for too long.
>>6826989
it's a hobby my dude.
>>6829027
Yes and no... I'm not going to just download a huge batch of wallpapers not knowing what they are and slam them all into the folder without looking at them first. There is a point where I will have to go through each one and decide if I like it, and if it is going in the folder. If the answer is yes, it gets a name and goes in. I'm not going to have a bunch of wallpapers saved that I don't care for.
Looking through a large collection one by one can be tedious, yes, but I already have to do it anyway, so tacking a name on while doing it isn't that big of a deal.
>>6830406
You made me laugh a lot and feel honored as fuck.
I just keep them in one folder. Coming up on around 400 papes soon so I might have to look in some kind of organisation soon but untill then one folder works fine for me
>>6827616
